You can do this with a bomb or blue shell as well (e.g. throwing a blue shell while being in 1st and aiming for the right spot). I think that's the only way to get up there.

It's not fake, it's using the Action Replay moon-jump cheat. There are several parts in the game where you can do that without cheats, Waluigi Stadium for instance.

You can do that without cheats, I've accidentally done it once, i thought it would be funny because i was getting thrashed by a mate, so i had a golden mushroom and jumped off whilst boosting, and i appeared on that little corner.
