  • @turbotransam1980 What exhaust. lol I have strait pipes that shoot out just behind the rear tire to push the smoke out during a burnout but I have no cat or muflers.

  • just put a 455 in it thats what i did to mine the turbo 301 isnt the best engine

  • no turbo in that piece and its only spinning the tires cuz it just got done raining

  • the 301 is better after a good rebuild now they sell a aftermarket forged crank the turbo if working right equiled the speed out about the same as the earlier 400 and back in the day they was fast almost king of the road

  • and if it wont rev past 3,500, check the wastegate and turbo setup, i had a turbo foxbody, and my wastegate wasnt working rite and it wouldnt rev out, if its a turbo car from the factory, it needs that turbo 100% opperational. the wastegate mite be stuck open or close, check the line to the wastegate acctuator. Or you got ignition problems,

  • i had a 81 305' 4 speed, and it was about as fast as a vtec civic till it topd put at 110mph pegg'd. it was a burn out machine, fun car to mess around,

    but i wonder how much faster the turbo 301 is?. i heard there junk, and mite as well just get a 6.6, 400 or 403.

  • check to make sure your throttle linkeage will pull full throttle sometimes throttle cables go out of adjust and wont allow wot eventhough your foot is on the floor your carb isnt wide open sit in the car not running put it to the boards and have a buddy check to see if the linkeage is allowing full throttle. If its not wide open your turbo wont have the exhaust velocity to spool right up also check the waste gate linkeage on the turbo. if you get it working just post another smoke show

  • ya i have spent around $1,000.00 on trying to fix my car it will not rev past 3500 rpm. so this is a 3,000 rpm burnout
