@thomastug This was written specifically for the TV Series, so that's probably why D and D have black livery. Most, if not all diesels in the RWS have two faces.

Wow i got this book, illustration at 1:54 is similar to one in rws book thomas and the great railway show, you know in museum piece illustration one but it has donald or douglas instead of James the one at 2:03 is similar to one in book Henry & the express

@Lightninging63 it's cos this was a tv series tie in and Bear wasn't in the tv series and at that point Mavis hadn't been introduced in the tv episode of this bertie and terence join trevor but can't see them in this book at all!

This is strongly based on the TV Series, that's why

1. Donald and Douglas are black

2. Mavis, Oliver, and some others aren't seen, as they will be seen on TV in the future.

@LEON13858 I pretty much just searched "Thomas & the Missing Christmas Tree." You can check if it's the original if the publisher is Heinemann (if that's how you spell it :-P) Books, and it was published in 1986. :-)

I think the arguments the big engines had about Thomas getting to do important work was Christopher's way of protesting about how the production team of Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends made him make Thomas more of a central character in The Railway Series.
