I was kind of curious who the band was that played this. When I searched for it awhile back I found and managed to listen to the song but it didn't say who the band was. Up until now I just figured it was Queen because the main singer sounded kind of similar from my point of view.
About October 1969. Junior in college, the time was full of fantastic music and great parties. Abbey Road would be released in a few weeks or days!!! Best time I ever had.
hey..I was 10 in 69 and our whole neighborhood was singing Nana nana hey hey goodbye and for the hell of me I couldn't think of who made this great old tune or that Steam did a version, but the second i saw it over on the right it came straight back with the full everything included..even the sticker on my sisters 45 record that said 45 cents I think
Paul Leka was my brother Teeds producer back in the late 70s...he was a great guy and I enjoyed watching him work his magic with Ron behind the board!
Tuesday Afternoon, I seem to remeber the poem being read after the song, instead of Evening time. Can you tell me what the true sequence was on the LP? Also I was wondering if you make $ from ads from getting so may views like Tuesday afternoon. Thanks.
Careful with this song - I got a very bad copywrite strike from the WMG back in February. It was my third copywrite strike, and resulted in the suspension of my original channel - "Morasch".
Producer Paul Leka had been a member of the Chateaus and the group recorded "It's the Magic in You" as the intended plug side. They needed something as filler for the flip-side & rearranged "Kiss Him Goodbye" - a song they had originally cut in the early 60's.
A Georgia radio dj decided to play the b-side & his phones lit up. Other jocks followed, & "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" took off, overshadowing the intended a-side.
Great job! Nice work with all that evocative period kitsch, too! Posted just in time for the world series. Even my son (27) knows the songs on that Billboard chart. And I always loved that xylophone (vibraphone?) So now you ought to tell us how Steam's
This song, which spent 2 weeks at #1 in December 1969, is one of two big hits from that year, 40 years ago, that may be even more famous these days that they were then as a result of being played at a lot of sports events. The other is "Sweet Caroline".
Hey 74Sodapop I got this CD as well in my collection. This is definitely one awesome song, thanks for putting it out the way you did, it gives it life and makes it more enjoyable not only to listen to but watch.

One of the best from 1969 ONE HIT WONDERS. Made it to number ONE for (2) weeks, and on the charts for 13 weeks. Still very popular in 2010.

Agree with your sentiments-SodaPop-,.lazy uploads are very annoying.
Always nice to see people making some effort.
Apart from the catchy chorus, what's so stunning about this tune,is the beautiful use of the vibraphone.

@WABC77 Sorry to hear that. WMG should be giving you a cheque, your efforts to promote their product is legion.
Merry Christmas, and don't let this threat limit you in your potential. Respect Amigo, Don.
