How did you refuel on crossing the oceans? It take more then 3 hours to cross a ocean me thinks.

@paraglide01 Except for Cook Strait in New Zealand we shipped the gyrocopter over the oceans on a container ship.

Ok so where did you go to re-fuel? You must of done over 100 refuel stops on this trip? Did you have to map out the fuel stops ahead of time?

@harrybaules Mostly we did the re-fuelling on airfields if they had the right fuel of course. But very often we had to transport fuel in canisters in our accompanying car. Actually the fuel logistic is one of the very big challenges of such a venture. We did no statistics on how often we stopped to refuel. But yes 100 stops is the right dimension.

Can I ask how long you get between re-fuels?

@harrybaules In theory you could get 3-4 hours between re-fuels. For security reasons we never stretched it further than 2-3 hours ...

Absolutely awesome! How high you could fly with your gyrocopter? Was it safe to fly over the open sea? Did you have a back-up team?

@tvmpsw ... up to 10.000 feet. We tried to avoid open sea whenever we could. We had a back-up team on each continent where we flew ...

We travelled in total 18 months. During our gyrocopter tours we flew ca. 5 days a week and 4-7 hours a day.

@superhel Mussten uns detailliert auf jedes Land und die entsprechenden Vorschriften vorbereiten. Es gab einige Behördenherausforderungen. Mehr dazu in unseren Filmen oder im Buch "Weltflug" ;-)
