  • I think the character description and script doesn't leave much room for experimenting with this role. Someone could come up with a performance very similar to Steve Martin's without ever seeing the film. Trying to do something different would be very risky here. Good performance though, Set design is very clever too.

  • ...

What the fuck is that lady doing to his leg?

  • Great performance, wonderful interpretation, but bad acting on the girls' speaking parts. I like how in other versions, they're kind of jamming with him, but in this, as they sing, they make their discomfort and how weirded out they are very clear.

  • 0:00 -> 4:13 = HORRIBLE

Not due to oppinion vs the movie little shop of horrors OR the play ive been lucky enough to see the original of, BUT the BAD BAD BAD acting.....

  • Not if steve martin took painstaking liberties which ultimately destroyed the character.

  • At 0:48 to 0:58 LOL! :D

  • those girls did good.

  • I have to agree with namelessfire. Orin is very two-demensional, and Steve Martin is a good as it gets. It could be worse. Mad props to Jared, this was a great performance.

  • "I'm here to pick up my DAYte"

  • Lol I don't know what the issue is with his impression. I love the way he portrays the character, and the story is most recognized as how Steve Martin does this character. Why not base it on that? This is great!

  • the audience was AMAZING! hahaha wish our school would do plays like this. LOL

& i wish they'd let us do funny slightly raunchy humor too. I mean some on, that's what you do in high school xD either way, this is an AWESOME performance. I loved the Steve Martin version so i don't blame him for loving it too :D obviously everyone in the audience loved it haha

  • HAHH, this guy is hilarious.

So what he mimed steve martin, its a great character no matter what, he did it justice.

  • not bad.... eh...bout a six or seven of ten.

  • For those who mock this guy for copying Steve Martin keep in mind that The Dentist is suppose to be a two dimensional evil character. There is not much wiggle room when it comes to this guy. He is suppose to be sick, twisted, sociopath and Steve Martin's interpretation is about as good as it gets while still staying true to the character.

  • clearly the dentist is a popular fella

  • It was so Steve Martin. And where was the patient and the dental assistants! This should have been WAY campier. But I suppose for a High School production it was decent. Still too much like Steve Martin.

  • My schools production has 8 Doo-Wops. They all split the dialogue amongst each other. The best part about that is that our director picked people who get along easier and they all can sing. Really, really good.

  • I don't know what it is, but this dentist just does not appeal to me at all. I don't like his singing or his characterization of Orin at all. He isn't mean or intimidating enough.

  • @JokerAgentOfChaos yea like an exaggeration of the movements and voice or something? i get what you mean.

  • Good actor

  • That's a horrible wig.

  • Fair play i love this character and cant wait to play him in our production in March. I wouldnt say im better at this guy as we have completely different styles and this performance was incredible!

  • i love the way this guy acts, but i think the way our school did the scene is better...

  • wow hes an AMAZING orin XD

  • My school is doing this musical in the spring! And you a did really good a watched a couple other scenes too-nicely done!

  • I just got cast as Orin in our school's performance. Can't wait!

  • I just got cast as orin as well!

  • im guessing hes popular

  • Compared to the other videos uploaded from this show, I would pretty much garuntee he is. It's distracting, though.

  • hahah fk yea

  • Haha! I loved Orin, but the Ronettes- not so much.

  • I applaud you. :)

GOOD LUCK! Orin's the best. :)

  • Compared to what, cuntpriest? (and what's with that nick???) Assuming this is isn't a broadway version I'd start by asking who these performers are. Saying something blows (without further questions etc) is the road of least resistance, i think.

  • this version BLOWS

  • Obviously this was all based on Steve Martin's version.

Which is ok, but as an actor, you're supposed to make the character your own, not mimic another actor.

  • @shutterflie Hey, well, really, thats who Orin IS. You can't allways nmake a different version of a character. Especially if that character's persona is already a smash hit.

Look at The Last Air Bender.

  • @shutterflie Yeah I agree. He was trying too hard to mimic Steve Martin

  • @shutterflie you show me someone who tried to make the character there own and succeeded

  • @shutterflie It is a school playu

  • @shutterflie sorry to burst your bubble, but drama is a collaborative art that uses CHARACTER ANALYSIS. Sure, it's great to create your own character, but really drama is an opportunity to become SOMEONE BESIDES YOU

  • @smackaggie like Steve Martin? Analyze the character, make it your own. Don't watch the movie and base your performance off that of movie!Orin.

Become the character, don't become someone else's interpretation of the character.

  • wtf with the zebra Audrey II at the beginning? Lol your Orin is awesome.

  • what a freak

  • very eccentric/ i love it/ great singer :)

  • Way to copy Steve Martin and not make the character his own.

  • I knoo!

The Corniness of it all, awesome.

  • best dentist ive seen any highskool do! the guy did cheese it up but it made it tht much beter!

  • xDDDD

    cool!

  • I really like this, but I have one problem with it. There's almost no interaction with the girls! When we did this we used it as a great part for some physical comedy, and it really improved the show. But the guys great. I just wish the girls weren't just standing on a fire escape for most of the song.

  • Top notch for a high school production. I agree with the comment that was made about it being a little goofier than I imagined, but hey to each his own I guess.

  • Wow, this is the best "amateur" version I have seen ! The guy playing the dentist has the voice and moves down perfectly. I love it !

  • That boy sure has hips.

  • Hey, this isn't disgustingly awful like most schools. The dentist has a good voice. Check out Nevada Union's videos to see some good plant work!

  • This video makes me wish I had this part in our school's version. I'm doing Seymour, but this is more fun.

  • it's a tad goofier than what i'm doing but still great

  • i agree. i had more interaction with the girls too. The song is meant to be funny, but not to the point of being ridiculous.

  • this blows away so many other videos of this i've watched!

  • Hey, wait a second, isn't that a Sweeney Todd set?!?!

  • THIS GUY IS AMAZING.

  • lol my skool goin to do this play too ..and this is like the funniest part lol good job i hope my school does good like dis :)

  • Wow! This is a really great performance!!

  • lol that audience ate this up.

  • Haha Awesome

  • ha ha he is really good Ha ha

  • Awesome! best song from the movie. =D

  • Holy cow, he's amazing!

  • that was brilliant!

  • omg hes really funny

  • looked like a very entertaining show. good job!

  • Love the way the dentist is a twisted version of Elvis. Creepy.

  • Hehe, that was a good interpretation of the real thing. Really liked watching this!

  • that was really cool. :) orin = amazing.

this guy really had a hold on the audience as well! haha. great job.

  • o well then we just have more i wish i could get a vid on hear b/c ours is nothing short of amazing

  • 3 is the normal amount

  • umm, it's supposed to be 3.

  • ya, its sposed to be 3...

  • lol how many u got? the whole chorus?

  • C'mon, my school hasn't even done it yet, and even I know it's 3.

  • ano soz, i realised that my message made me look like a twat after i posted it

  • Awesome job orin, and the chiffons werent too bad either. Now I'm not sure what his director told him to do, but he could have been a little bit more of a bully towards the girls rather than act like he was completely oblivious to the fact that the girls hated him, which they made apparent when they tried kicking his ass. The point is... you don't want people to pull out their handkerchiefs when the dentist dies and gets fed to the plant.

  • i played chiffon when my camp did this... GOOD TIMES

  • Orin's performace was pretty good. I did feel, however, that he was trying to imitate Steve Martin from the movie.

  • Absolutely hilarious. This guy knows how to make the audience laugh, just like the Seymour in this play. But the dentist really knows how to move.

  • LMAO he was bloody brilliant!!! <3

  • Your set rocked! :) The guy who was orin did a good job. XD

  • good job. too bad high school audiences have to act like they're five.

  • loved it!

  • dude i love the guy playin the dentist.

  • He's good thats for sure, just wish his direction of the character was a little meaner / scarier, since he is a sadistic maniac.

  • I loved it. xD he reminded me of steve martin. <3

  • To much indication for my taste, good playing, and he obviously had the characterization down. It was just bad direction. Kudos to the actor, just so much indication.

  • Brilliant.

  • awesome the guy playing him is perfect

  • XDDD Okay, whoever it was that was playing the dentist guy is PERFECT for that part. xD He's hilarious!

  • That was good:) I loved how excited your audience was, lol!

  • Oh, and I forgot to mention, that set is wicked! Props (I'm so punny...) to the set designer(s)!

  • Not bad. The back-up singers sucked, but the dentist did a pretty good job. He had the mannerisms down, though his singing could have used some work.

I wish my high school drama club had done something as cool as Little Shop of Horrors...

  • WoW....prep school...

I don't know if you're in any position to talk smack about anyone.

  • wow. We're going to be doing this at my school but I don't think the guy can match this guy. WHOO!

  • he is good. but, my old high school just did this play and a hes close friend of mine and he was amazing so much better than this guy.

  • wow i have surfed U TUBE waching some of the dentist scenes... but this guy is the best I have seen. great work.

  • This is the perfect Orin, pelvic thrust, O mama lines, everything!! He's got a future in comedy.

  • I LOVE IT! perfect orin

  • Best production on youtube

  • uhmm then you obviously havent seen CMs production its borderline broadway!!!

  • I have a feeling that guy's popular...

  • For sure!

  • lol awsome.....when that happend i was like Was that a highschool kid or did stevemartin get up there and do that? He was AWSOME!!

  • As a man whose played Orin Scrivello/ Dr. Farb, I say that guy did an awesome job! One of these days I'll have to put my version on youtube.

  • Hi

we are doing little shop of horrors this year and i got a call-back but they want me to have the dentisr and everyon thinks i should and the person being seymore shud be the dentist Lol

SO I WAS WOUNDERING COULD ANYONE TELL MEIF THE DENTIST IS A GOOD PART TO PLAY IN THE SHOW AND ARE YOU IN A LOT OF SCENE WITH A LOT OF LINE BECAUSE IN THE FILM ITS NOT A VERY GOOD CHARACTER AND I WAS JUST WOUNDERING??????

  • It shouldn't matter what part or how many lines you get, it is whether you like acting or not...if you only care about the lines, then how can you be serious with any part? Every actor i know started off with small parts.

  • Oh yeah the dentist is an awesome part!

  • He looks like Danny from "Grease" =D

  • He is an AMAZING Dentist! He's absolutely hilarious and perfect for the part. :D

  • this dentist did a great job.

  • well done.not to be insulting i liked our dentist a little better though he had only a week to learn EVERYTHING but urs was REALLY good as well really funny

  • he pretty good but he over sang it in some parts. the back up singers could have done a much better job

  • HOLY CRAP THIS KID IS AMAZINGG! ahhhh future in acting much???? jeez I LOVE YOU<3 keep doing the pelic thrust!!!!

  • BRILLIANT. Love him

  • Your Orin rocks!

  • back up singers are awful

  • good job guys!!

  • PEVIC THRUST <3333

  • he should have done more pelvic thrusts to make it funnier xD

  • Orin's way better than the Urchins, but he really needs to work on the voice. And the "oh mama!" part isnt in the script. It's in the movie. Yeah. Pretty good though.

  • well... he's MUCH better than the guy who plays orin on our production performance... hehehe...

  • We just finished this show at my high school for our spring musical. I have to say, The guy who plays Orin is pretty good.. and the site is impressive. But I'm on costume crew... and... I don't know about the urchins outfits..

  • The Dentist has a great voice, but the Urchins kind of suck...

  • ya..

  • pretty good

  • not strong enough for Oron.

    decent voice though.

    set is very interesting.

  • LOVE IT :D

  • Nice...nice...LOVE the boots, but as a true blue Rocker myself I have to say the jacket didn't look quite right, cool set though, and a good version of Orin, nice.

  • LOVE

  • Ah that was hilarious! Loved it. Well done x

  • Haha, he's awesome :)

  • I just noticed the similarity between this Orin and the Steve Martin Orin (at the momma line and getup after the momma line). Still good nonetheless.

  • pretty good Orin

  • This is best version of 'Dentist' I've ever seen on YouTube beside the movie.

  • Out of all the High School Musical of song, This is the best!! Good Job!!

  • Holy crap he does an awesome job!

  • I'm in a production of Little Shop Of Horrors at the Jewish Community Center! And i play the plant.

  • ahh mate iv got a tatoo of this playhouse its the best playhouse ever made i lost my virginity there its so good i think about it everyday and fall into a deep depression wenever i am away from it for more than 5 minutes. they all love me there and they throw themselves at me iv spent approximately 90% of my life there I completely LOVE IT. I wish i was there right now, in fact the only reason I'm watching this is to ease the pain of being away from my beloed playhouse

  • Really cool, superb performance! :) great adptation of the movie!

  • This is the best dentist I've seen besides Steve Martin. Excellent performance. The actor has a great singing voice and stage presence.

  • the dentist is really great!

    quite good at singing! ahahaha~

  • So far my fav. XD

  • Hey! Thankyou very much for this clip, its fantastic! I am currently rehersing for the part of Orin in my school musical and this has helped me so much to really get into character. I hope I am going to be as funny as this actor! James

  • shoot scrap my last comment. wrong playhouse. if can be please delete both of my posts. thnx

  • this show was great. they did a excellent job at this playhouse. I practically live there. U should see when they do rocky horror. if u can send the videos to me that would be great. stroise256 on aol. i seen the rocky show there over 70x. umm yea they brought me on stage for seeing the show so many times. I never been so nervous in my life. lolol. excellent playhouse. love everyone there.

  • Little Shop has always been my favorite musicals. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who has absolutely no theater experience what so ever, but I do sing songs from Little Shop for the fun of it at local karaoke bars with my self constructed Audrey Twos. However Buzz431's videos have helped me learn the worlds very.

  • find it very amusing that there are Little Shop of Horrors show battles on YouTube. Anyway, I just wanted to send my compliments on this particular production.

  • im with shanioke on this, i checked em both out, and while the other one was...well..."different", this one definately has the superiour "steve martin" feel to it. very well done.

  • you're not condeming anyone? you bloody wrote "your stupid show can't even BEGIN to compare to this one"! that is condeming you idiot. anyway, you're clearly an arrogent and bad tempered piece of work that cant control their language. iv lost interest, bye.

  • Clearly, you haven't lost interest, otherwise you wouldn't keep replying. I'm surprised you can even SPELL condemning, as you obviously don't know it's meaning. And what is this "arrogant" shit? I've not said one word about myself. Yet another word you don't know the meaning of. Talk about arrogancy.

Now if you truly have lost interest, stop bloody well posting, because I can do this for a hell of a lot longer than you can. I fell the need to reiterate... GET OVER YOURSELF

  • Fantastic! I love the way he stayed true to Steve Martin's style. Very well done.

  • thats a cool 2 story set..

  • Absolutely amazing! This is I think the VERY best production of this show that I've ever seen, next to the film. Very very good! woot!

  • Awesome! This guy did a great Orin! Little over the top at moments, but still great!

  • good dentist

    Thats the funniest song

    the Little shop

    good job

  • its ok i guess!

  • Hell of a lot better than yours.

  • in you're opinion

  • In everybody's opinion. Your version of this show was a disgrace

  • everyone's opinion ey? hmm. better tell that to the people that said they loved it and asked me to send it to them... keep YOUR opinion to yourself! anyway, i dont have anything to prove to you, our audience loved it, who gives a tiny rats ass if you dont!?!

  • Fuck off loser, your stupid show can't even BEGIN to compare to this one. And I'll damn well share my opinion if I want to, it's a free country, ASS

  • The people at your pathetic little school must have been listening to a recorded version of the music, otherwise they're delusional. Get over yourself.

  • i'm bored of you now. i couldnt care less of your opinion to be honest, you wernt there, and the people that wre loved it. who's comment do you think i'd rather listen to? hmm. not yours! for you to condem 11 - 16 year old kids for performing a show they loved is beyond me.

  • I'm not condemning anyone jack ass, I'm merely stating my opinion, YOU'RE the one who blew this out of porportion. You didn't even have to respond to my original comment. So get over yourself, fucker.

  • to be fair you did state a rather rude and inapropiate stament. "its ok i guess!" was just a negative coment. Why not put a ;ink to your version of dentsist up on You tube and then you can talk.

Spare that interfierance I thought it was a good video :) great set great singing and loved how the Dentsist was acted out. Have five srars oe me

  • not ss good as Steve Martin

  • Greattttt job

  • Excellent job! Best highschool version of "Dentist!" I've seen. XD
