  • I don't understand why this took so many takes. The only reason that I can think of would be that they didn't choreograph it or practice it before filming.

  • @hobofuture It was the final wonder goal by Jackie that took 2900 takes. He was very much a meticulous perfectionist as a director in his action scenes and would take many more takes then necesary at times, until he felt satisfied. As a result this film went way over the budget (and time) set out that the producers had Sammo Hung sharing some of the directorial control in Chan's next film, the classic "Project A".

  • 2900 retakes, and now its perfect :D

  • god dammit it cuts off right before he nails the girl in the face!

  • @shiretsu lol yea well i left that out because that is more part of the storyline then the match itself, people who have'nt seen the film (one of jackie's more underrated classics) would be more baffled if it ended like that. However, in the context of the film itself, that part is pretty hilarious and an ingenius way of taking the storyline forward.

  • i'll bet it's that scene at 4:40

  • Most of the takes were needed for the cheerleading.

  • ha ha ha........cheerleaders........love them

  • it wasn't the 2900 retake scene, it was the opening pyramid rugby sequence..

  • @103Rockistan well no, there has been dispute about this but Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan (who actually visited Chan at the set of the movie) confirmed that it is the shot in this scene right at the end for Chan's wonder goal that took 2900 takes.

  • @djmax2k6 alright,, thanx 4 info..

  • interesting game, wish that was still being played in olympics :D

  • 2900 takes? I can see why.

  • ohh boy., hats down.! O:) O:)

  • Now, this is REAL soccer! :D

  • Hardcore hacky sack. Awesomeness.

  • Amazing

  • People who worship soccer players should see from what they learned.

  • No CGI. WOW!!!

  • i bet no one reads the subtitles whilst they are playing

  • fuck modern day cgi, this is where it's at!

  • Single. Most. Epic. Badminton. Game. EVER.

  • @42ndAirsoftLegion WHAT???? DO you even know what is badminton

  • @WAR1232 yeah, it uses a shuttlecock or "birdie". This isn't exactly badminton I know because there's no rackets, but this is much more awesome.

  • @WAR1232 When yOu say badminton, the thing that comes in peoples mind is racket and shuttlecock. Not this one. In the Philippine it is called "sipa" (there's 2 kinds of "sipa). Now we know that there's 2 kinds of badmintons: one with racket and the other one with none.

  • @TheSuperk25 I think your comment should be directed to Legion, not me.

  • They spent 40 days (if you imagine they worked 12 hours a day) to do 2900 takes. That's an insanely un-necessary waste of time, effort, and resources.

  • that's insane

    over 2900 takes?

  • This sport requires excellent footwork, great control, amazing anticipation, and alot of accuracy. I was thinking about practicing it but it is way too hard for me.

    :) Maybe later.

  • That is so cool. so much skill

  • Wow. Amazing skills and dedication.

  • you dont get this in movies today *cgi* but man look at that! its real and took over 2900 takes

  • yup this scene alone did take 2900 times to get it right

  • Guiness record...

You know that will never happen again with CGI

  • Hmm. I wish the subtitles were a little more accurate. I guess that's not really realistic though, since the announcer talks at quite a rapid pace in actual Mandarin, it'd be hard to keep up.

    But damn, is that impressive.

  • crazy

  • i heard it took 2900 takes for these scenes...

  • hold the record yea

  • shuttlecock

  • jesus christ lol

  • LOL, ancient chinese cheerleading. Haha. Amazing scene.

  • ive played this be4 but never with goals, i think i can juggle it about 20-30 times w/o it dropping.

  • That's tens of thousands of man-hours for a ten minute scene.

  • yeah, with about 14 people to work with, you'd probably wont even need legs to do that.

  • Hah, I remember playing something like this in the philippines when I was younger, but I mean nothing like this in the movie.

This is a great scene, that's for sure.

    Amazing to be exact.

  • CGI

  • the whole ten minute scene needed 2900 retakes before it was perfect

  • More specifically, it need OVER 2900 retakes

  • i woulda expected more since its all real >.>

  • good stuff, but what scene exactly needed that many shots?

  • They had to do everything specifically, it's not just a game and they filmed it, it was probably choreographed specifically.

  • It was specially choreographed and its choreographed by Jackie.

  • i am sad this incredible video got so less number of views compared to those stupid videos out there which teaches how to tie your shoes

  • @jay479i lol true. this film is really underrated amongst jackie's stuff. this scene alone highlights the effort and dedication that went into the film. Some that dont rate this film highly are looking at it as a whole. However when you see it scene by scene (as was the focus of alot the hk action films in those days) there are great sections throughout. It also gives jackie's friend and frequent double; one of the greatest stunt-guys of all time "Mars" a rare starring role.

  • thats freakin nuts.

all those guys are incredible 0_0

  • Damn

  • 2900 takes?! That's incredible.

  • The 2900 + take shot (I'm not sure which shot it was) is still the world record. The second place is also by Jackie, in the fan fighting scene from The Young Master; it was just under 400 takes for one shot.

  • its like extreme chinese hacky sack

  • thats amazin especially the ending

  • 2900 takes!!

  • computer is not yetr around at that time

  • jackie must have a LOT of patience to do this shot many scores over

  • This scene took 2900+ takes to get right.

  • jeeeez he is dedicated

  • It also helps that he he was about 28 at the time. Probably wouldn't be able to do that today.

  • true true
