Mhedrioni - georgian army - were band of looters and rapers and that is why population of Abkhazh started to defend themselfs. Including armenian population that created a self-defence batallion - so called Bagramyan Batallion. I understand under Abkhaz people you meant everybody who lived in Abkhaz and considered it it's motherland.

Due to this discriminatory policy Greeks were deported from Abkhazia in 1949, and immigrants from Georgia occupied the abandoned houses. As a result the demographic situation was artificially altered.
