I know this is probably practice but I have coached guard and perfect practice makes perfect. catching the rifle flat or vertical (ready position) is key to scoring those superiors at competition. Excellent rifle parallel toss just watch that prep spin and the catch it can look sloppy on that particular toss. early release on rifle at 2:54 thats why you had to chase it. pretty good saber routine, again, just catch flat or vertical. flag routine pretty good. Great job so far!!!

Great job. I have been doing guard for about 6 years now and you are doing great. I will tell you though that your catches need to stick. I use to do the same thing. Then I figured out that if your tossing this beautiful toss, why end it with a bad catch. Watch my videos and you'll see from years ago to now how I have improved. Great job.

My only advice is to catch everything solid. Don't let your equipment control you, especially your rifle. If possible, open your arms wider, that will help with a strong catch. Don't be afraid to add facial expressions and just peform like crazy!
just a great ruitine, just watch out for wandering it was wonderful, and make sure to allow your motions to act upon the music, dont try to cram moves all into one moment, its all about a flow of emotion and creating a picture out of your movements. the canvas is the music, you are the paint. loved your moves though darling, it was simply wonderful :)

Also have a strong catch, when you catch your rifle your body goes into it. It should have a solid catch.Whan you drop, you have to JUMP to get that rifle because you have a 2 count recovery, you took about 8 counts to recover each time, and that will take points off your score. I hope this helped. You have talent, use it. Everything else about you is perfect...great job!
There were things in there such as, piches on your tosses, no expresion on your face, your body colapsed several times, and when you droped it you need to have a faster recover. To fix your pitch, stand in front of a wall, then throw your tosses, you will see a difference. To fix your expresion, think of the emotion you would feel going through what that song talks about and transfer it to your face, It will look soo much better.
haha so during your flag part, i was thinking "that flag is so little" then i realized it's just because you're tall. When i stand next to my flag, it looks huge! but then again, i am only 5'3" and we use six footers, which yours looks like a six foot too...

Performance is what make a good color guard member! also on the first Rifle tosss the 5 or 6, lock that dip dont just slowly prep into it, also that first sabre toss, blade toss? if so catch it right!(on the blade, splitting the tapes) and if or when you dropped you are very slow to receive it, you need to grab that up fast and act like that was supposed to happen! You could be a little more enthusiastic. When you are preforming it doesn't look like you're having fun and instead being forced to toss your rifle. You should bring a little more life into your routine and straighten your spine when you dance. It would help a lot.
you know what makes me angry?? Girls have to try so hard, and work there butts off just to throw high tosses but guys can act like you acted in that, and not even care about colorguard, yet they can do everything easily?!?!
You definately have a lot of talent. There is some technique issues on the tosses, but I think you would benefit most by having more training with body technique. The passe was flexed and tondues and turnouts were poor. Also the upper body collapsed several times. Body is very important in guard- look for a dance class or a better guard to join. Dont limit yourself to current instructors.
i can't get over the high rifle toss!!!! i am inspired by you, i really took months to do what you do. i finally got the high toss but not with a rifle, with a baton. but when i get my rifle you are my inspiration to learn how to toss it 10x higher than this!!!!!! (: great job!
High tosses don't mean anything without a strong catch and solid body underneath the release. Watch your hand placements when you release, spread your hands a little farther apart when you catch, it'll help keep it solid and stop the drops. This is all constructive criticism, my dear. You're really very good, and I see a lot of potential in you! It's not bad at all, just minor little things that can be easily fixed. Keep working.
@fruit4me well guard is alot of work but it is definitely fun! if you're scared then you can always quit and do something else! it just takes practice. if its something you like, and youre competitive then it should be no problem!
@seanc61 I have to do both concert and marching. I just have to manage to do concert and winterguard at the same time. We use 36's, but we've used 39's before. 36's are so much easier to do complicated work with. like under the leg work and stuff. plus we have alot of short people XD

@guardiecapt2010 Trying not to sound sexist.. But most guys that do colorguard find it much easier to toss extremely high. For instance... Me and my friend do winterguard but not fall guard because we are in band. Within the first 2 months we were throwing higher than the vets. We maxed out at about 10's... But its all about muscle and technique ^_^
We had a guy too, but he had to stop before we started and i was amazed he could toss (hes not the musically dancy type) However i did just accomplished an 8!

wow, this is really good. this'll be my third year in guard at my high school i absolutely love it. we use flags and rifles. we've yet to use sabors while ive been here. or air blades. but this year we might have a guy! i go to owasso high school in oklahoma.
well first off REALLY good. I love your rifle tosses but be sure to catch at all costs it is eaiser to recover a bad catch then a drop. Also make your dance flow together it is very choping. But other than that really good:)

1. Point your toes more, boy! :D
2. You should add more body into your work so the audience feels more emotion.
3. When you drop it, you should recover faster. My colorguard leader says to my marching band colorguard to recover at least in one count.

You definately have a lot of talent. There is some technique issues on the tosses, but I think you would benefit most by having more training with body technique. The passe was flexed and tondues and turnouts were poor. Also the upper body collapsed several times. Body is very important in guard- look for a dance class or a better guard to join. Dont limit yourself to current instructors.

i can't get over the high rifle toss!!!! i am inspired by you, i really took months to do what you do. i finally got the high toss but not with a rifle, with a baton. but when i get my rifle you are my inspiration to learn how to toss it 10x higher than this!!!!!! (: great job!

High tosses don't mean anything without a strong catch and solid body underneath the release. Watch your hand placements when you release, spread your hands a little farther apart when you catch, it'll help keep it solid and stop the drops. This is all constructive criticism, my dear. You're really very good, and I see a lot of potential in you! It's not bad at all, just minor little things that can be easily fixed. Keep working.

@fruit4me well guard is alot of work but it is definitely fun! if you're scared then you can always quit and do something else! it just takes practice. if its something you like, and youre competitive then it should be no problem!

@leonard03 thats exactly like me. Im in band for marching season but for concert season, i would do guard. Do you use a 36 or 39 inch rifle??

@seanc61 I have to do both concert and marching. I just have to manage to do concert and winterguard at the same time. We use 36's, but we've used 39's before. 36's are so much easier to do complicated work with. like under the leg work and stuff. plus we have alot of short people XD

Some advice. Watch your free hands and youre releasing way too high. Also, when you toss, try to keep the rifle and sabre lower. That was way too high for such little rotations. But great choreography and song! :D

@guardiecapt2010 Trying not to sound sexist.. But most guys that do colorguard find it much easier to toss extremely high. For instance... Me and my friend do winterguard but not fall guard because we are in band. Within the first 2 months we were throwing higher than the vets. We maxed out at about 10's... But its all about muscle and technique ^_^

We had a guy too, but he had to stop before we started and i was amazed he could toss (hes not the musically dancy type) However i did just accomplished an 8!

wow, this is really good. this'll be my third year in guard at my high school i absolutely love it. we use flags and rifles. we've yet to use sabors while ive been here. or air blades. but this year we might have a guy! i go to owasso high school in oklahoma.

well first off REALLY good. I love your rifle tosses but be sure to catch at all costs it is eaiser to recover a bad catch then a drop. Also make your dance flow together it is very choping. But other than that really good:)
