How to : Connecting HDMI and Gaming Headset ( Tritton / Turtle Beach / Astro )

ok i have a 360 slim and everytime i hook in the adapter it switches it back to av and not hdmi i get sound and nuthing but black screen and av and hdmi are hooked up

srry for the second question, picture, a home theatre pc, a 360, and a ps3, and one headset. I cant get my head around this, I understand most headsets are compatible, but requires the user to re-connect it to the device they want to use, I cant figure out how to connect them all and just be able to switch as needed. Would a optical splitter cable & a usb hub work you think? Plug the trittons into the usb hub,from, their plug them into the ps3/360/pc, and use the optical cables the same way?

Thanks man, that hdmi switcher was just what I was looking for and unexpectedly found it in your video. i am setting up a new entertaintment setup, Quick question, i have a 360,ps3,and a pc (with HDMI), All 3 devices have hdmi and i have the ax 720's, can i connect all 3 to the HDMI switch like you said and they would all work normally? I cant seem to find a straight answer...Im pretty sure you understand it is im trying to do..I also plan on having all 3 connected to my tv...

The HDMI should go to the TV.

The TV should be set to the HDMI input you used to get the video.

The audio should be sent (via MadCatz) to the headset

Couldn't u just hook up the optical cable to your hdtv? I mean if u have all your devices hooked up to your tv already through hdmi wouldn't it just work to hook up the optical to the tv since almost all hdtv's have an optical output?

I have a couple of Sony TVs that the optic output is only for the internal HD tuner audio so you can send the 5.1 to your stereo.

But I have set up samsungs that the optic output does just what you are saying.

So it depends on your Tv

i still got a problem with connecting the headset with stereo cable to my xbox with hdmi, the plug just takes too much space and makes it impossible to plug both in at the same time!

I made the video to show you other options, because you can't use the standard A/V plug. Although folks have said they used a butter knife to pop off the outer grey case of the standard A/V plug and it fits.

Use the standard A/V cable that came with the PS3 to connect the red/white audio plugs to the headset and run the HDMI to the monitor. You should be fine.

I might be understanding your question. You want audio to go to the headset, not the TV.

I did just that. go to 1:38. I show the adaptor you will need to extract the red/white audio (composite) cables. One person even recommended to just break the cover off the original Xbox360 housing so it will fit with the HDMI.

@ReviewGuy1000 Oh I know you showed the extra cable. But you didn't show exactly how to hook up the red/white cables. You only did the optical. I think it would have been more helpful to show the exact settings to use on your Xbox like you did on the PS3. I've actually already done a hook up with an HDMI cable. I stuck a table knife into the plastic casing and snapped it off. :) Just thought showing the settings and whatever might be helpful for people who haven't got a clue at all.

Its stupid that you have to buy the cable seperate. I couldn't use my headset to its fullest for one week becuase I had to order the cable seperate. They should really sell the cable with the headset.

Some people said they just popped off the hard plastic cover of the factory plug so that it fit above the HDMI.

@ReviewGuy1000 My trittons just broke. They decided to not play game sound so I spent about 5 mintues taking apart every bit of wire and it turns out that one bit is broken so now they're totally unusable >_<

I got them yesterday.

For PS3? You plug an USB cable into the base of the headset. Then the chat works fine.

The use of a monitor or TV doesn't matter. You are only taking the sound from the PS3 and sending it thru the headset. This video should be all you need.
