@char615 well, they were made for KTLA (and the 615 package is currently a KTLA exclusive), though the graphics were recenlty syndicated to sister station KCPQ.
The music I like. I think it's reminiscent of the old theme (the last four notes of the old signature). I thinking they've restricted themselves to become a bit more serious, therefore, the rebranding. Reminds me of KTVU, almost. Love the classical logo, it rocked back then, rocks now. Graphics also do remind me of KTVU San Francisco, the color theme and the layout (although they've obviously taken a more vertical approach here). Very nice.
What I've failed to notice is that they hired Micah Ohlman, cousin of Paul Moyer (KNBC), was hired away from KABC's weekend shift to do this. Hmmm, airtime hogger, much? Whatever, I'll let you guys feast on that.
Wow, you're awfully full of yourself. It's called career advancement, and I don't blame anyone for seizing the opportunity to be a primetime anchor in market #2.
But I'm sure many factors went into Ohlman's decision to move to KTLA that outweighed him staying at KABC (airtime not being the sole reason).
Alright, maybe I went a little "critical overboard" there. I just get the same air when I see Ohlman doing the news as I do with Moyer and with plenty of opinion flying around with LA anchors, I guess I assumed. Apologies there. Still, I don't get why he wanted to go from a safe #2 or #1 station to an equally good one at 10pm, but working the VERY competitive 6 o'clock slot. It just didn't make sense for me, even though he moved from the weekends to weekdays. Maybe it's baseball trading TV style
I hate that. The KTLA music was distinctive. They had a brand. A different brand and attitude in their image. Now, it's generic. Not bad, but not original.
(continued) Well, even though I hate some things (like the top 40 crap for bumpers), I like the rest of them. Even though KTLA's style was more hip and creative for the past 4 years - and I did like that - their acknowledging their past (the classic 5, for one) is something to be admired. Their commitment to news is definitely more evident now (8.5 hours a weekday). And quoting one of the users from TVNewsTalk [dot] net, "somewhere, Professor Hal Fishman is smiling."
the station changed so much, so quick. idk what happened, but everything just looks and feels so different now. doesn't feel as LA-ish anymore to me.

They dropped their in-house graphics and custom music for Hothaus and 615 packages? It should be the other way around.

OK, so let's see. The logo, with the LA part in bold, and the classic 5 back in the spotlight. I like.
The return to the classic "News at Ten" name, even though you don't see it here. I like.
The graphics - well, they're Hothaus. How can you not like Hothaus? Though some parts suck.
The music is obviously 615's work. I like, but they could've kept the old music (it grew on me), or just include the 6-note signature.
The set - they could've kept the live shots on the monitor.
And no voiceover?
