I think you rode very well. The main thing is that you didn't catch the horse in the mouth. No one is perfect but your position is something that you (and everyone else for that matter) can always work on. What is important is that your position isn't terrible, the horse is happy with what you're doing and you're willing to learn and do better. Good job and good luck in the future.

Thats great! The only thing I can mention is that you should keep your feet, the uhh.. standing things, keep your toes in it, not your whole foot.

@ponyjumper1000 This was my first time jumping. It was not in a schooling type setting, or with a professional coach. It was just my friend who set-up a jump and let me jump over it with her horse. I'm not claiming to have known anything about it then, but I know a lot more about it now after having actual coaching. If I had known that a cross-rail would've been easier, I would've asked her to set something like that up as opposed to what we had. It probably wouldn't have been as scary looking!

If you pause at 17 seconds, you will see the equitation I WISH I had when I FIRST jumped. Her heel is down, ankle flexed, butt out of the saddle, AND she is even giving a release. The only thing would be to stay in half seat a little longer over the jump, as you "popped back", but you did VERY VERY well for your FIRST time jumping!

I thought you did pretty well for your first time. Of course no ones form is perfect their first time but the important thing is that you are not grapping the horse in the mouth at all and you are jumping smoothly as a pair. Good job,however I wouldn't suggest raising the jump as your friend did. It is always better and safer to work at a lower height until you fully inderstand and are educated in proper form. Good job though!
