I used to luv KNIGHT RIDER when i was a kid..I thought that KIT was the fastest car on the planet...It's funny how it was just a TRANS AM...Any muscle car would smoke that thing.
I had a pound puppy that had a record mechanism inside like the one in this toy but it was sound and vibration sensitive it had 3 barking sounds on it, i wish i still had the sound unit, it was from the pound puppies Barkers line
I wanted this toy SOOOOOOOOOO BAD when I was like 8. After harping on it for what seemed like forever, my grandmother finally bought it for me. And then after that, I don't think I played with it that much. Go figure :-)
I wanted one when I was a Kid. Unfortunately, This was in very high demand around Christmas time and I couldnt get it. Oh well, Thats the way it goes sometimes.
Ohh man. I had one I received for Christmas. Christmas night my friend was playing with it and banged it into the wall. Broken. 9 hours it lasted me. Of course my friend was a enormously fat kid who had a knack of breaking things.
Yeah, they really don't make 'em like they used to. There's a new, more detailed KITT toy (you can see videos of here on YouTube), but as far as I know, it lacks a talking voice.
They have videos of people who have added voices to their models. The 1983 version is the only one I know of that actually speaks, maybe the new R/C ones, I'm not sure.
@azotus If you can, keep whatever it is that you do have left. I wish I had kept mine. I used to have just about a whole fleet of pressed steel Tonka Trucks from back in the early 70s when I was growing up, my grandparents and my mother got them for about $10.00 - $20.00 each, now today, even used ones on e-bay run about $50.00 each.
i had one of these, i wish i still did but for some reason - i guess maybe it was just in really bad shape from being left in the rain constantly - but my dad convinced me to blow it up with a firecracker... all it did was catch fire and melt, and we threw it away. ever since then i try to avoid wasting anything that has any possibility of being fixed later on. 20+ yrs later I'm into this show again, and i just saw the same car in fair cond'n starting at $50 on ebay
I had one when i was a kid and completely modified it into a convertible (haha bad idea!)...oh well what can i say i was a kid! i hated that the front light beam was a actual decal that reflected red as you looked at it from angles of the light, instead of a actual working light. Although it was my one of my favorite toys of yester-year. Thanks for the mems!
No problem :) A convertible? That episode from a later season, when KITT lost his super-invulnerable coating but acquired the convertible top, must have been the influence ;)
i have no idea.....i havent messed with it much it packed away with all my other toys my parents kept from when i was a child.....im an only child so yeah they got everything.....but maybe if i ever look at all the old stuff ill try to fix it ...that was like my favorite toy....i also had a knight rider mini car i guess you could say it was awesome but i dont think they kept that anyways
I also have a video in my videos of the Star Wars Imperial Troop Transporter toy. It also had sound effects using a record player. And there's a funny commercial floating around on YouTube, from the late 70s when it was released.
No problem. I love this old toy, it's one of a few childhood toys I still have. But I still haven't located the Michael figure. I guess he's in jail for a DUI! (See comment below this...)

the talking mechanism is a record player, so what makes it slow isnt the battery it's the friction on the record disk

Badass! I had one too, but the voice stopped working only a few years after I got it. Finally canibalized it in my late teens. Too bad... lol

Ironically, I don't think that after I finally got it I really played with it that much. It's still in my parents house somewhere in a box

Yikes! Not even KITT can save Michael from that fate! ;)
I wonder if the record player inside your car just needs to be tinkered with.
