  • i miss db

  • i live in florida and the shark bite capital of the worl is new symerna beach, not daytona beach

  • @DTCODGODS13 you are correct

  • i live in florida and the shark capital of the worl is new symerna beach, not daytona beach

  • It's not a guitar fish, it's called sand shark, that one happens to be the triangle sand shark. It was a baby size. I actually caught one about 10hrs ago. Nice fishing

  • Can someone suggest a good rig for whiting?

  • I'm so used to freshwater fishing that I'd probably go out there and try to lip a Shark. jk

    Nice Video!

  • And I'll take you perch fishing on the Oregon coast, 10'6" extra heavy casting rods throwing 4 ounce leads and crappie rigs 75 yards out into the surf. Great fun, good times, great eatin'. Keep those videos coming you crappie kings, be well and fish on! Mark

  • Great videos guys, come on out to Oregon and I,

  • hahaha not sure if its acoustic or electric

  • Good video but wqy to big of a hook for that 12 pound braid and WAY to big of a piece of cut mullet. Fish will just nibble that all off

  • beautiful job was just there fishing and subscribed

  • my biggest whiting was 3 lbs 18 inches it was caught in Hilton Head island South carolina. Nice vids!

  • best fish video in the world love your videos

  • @blackopps223 thanks man

  • i suggest circle hooks there the best for any surf fishing

  • Are you using live or cut shrimp??

  • nice

  • Can someone please give me some tips on how to fish in the waves like that, I think I put the sinker at the end and then two hooks hanging from the line with shrimp on it. I don't know if I let it sit when I cast out or if I reel it in. Just if someone could help me out a little I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT! Thank You.

  • you should have used that ladyfish for bait. Perfect bait fish.

  • @MURAB1TON i'm heading down to daytona mid may - i'll have to give that a try this time

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE new symerna is the shark bite capital of the world

    not daytona

  • 7:26 - 7:37 is the best

  • I tell you, I am a local resident of New Smyrna Beach. You should have cut the ladyfish into 2 inch chunks. We catch cobia, redfish, snook, decent size tarpon from time to time and of course shark, rather large sharks to be honest. Happy to see a tourist the didnt get hit be a car or attacked by a shark, come back soon.

  • @whybepro i'm coming back to daytona area may 13 for 9 days.

got a question for you -although iv'e been fishing for over 40 years i have no experience with salt water.

i was a little uptight about wading chest deep out at the beach - all the locals fish from shore.

are there any dangers ? standing out in the water like i did in this video ? i mean do sharks or stinrays or any other creatures come in that close to shore?????????????

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE Naw brother, you'll be fine. We locals will swim farther out than where you were at. I mean, they can come in that close and do on occasion, but more often than not they're farther out than where you were at.

  • @CobraDemon91 alright -thanks man.

we're coming back out there in may to try for a few more pomps

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE Bill,

There is always some risk in surf fishing. The main critter that you have to watch out for is the blacktip reef shark. The stingrays at that depth usually are not the deadly ones. In fact, I think the sharks and rays should be worried about you!!! Use steel leader and cut jack crevalle or kingfish. You would be surprised how hard those sharks fight. Get a hook extractor, their bite is still painful. TRUST ME.

    Captain Nerd.

  • @fishingwiththenerd thanks man -i'm going back there mid may ,hopefully i can hook into a few

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE Hey Bill, When you set the hook, wait five seconds to make sure he is taking the bait, then set the hook multiple times to make sure he is on. When he runs, you need to just hold that rod flat and loosen the tension in the line. And watch out for those teeth. I've got plenty of scars from them.

  • what is a mullet like a saltwater minnow or something??

  • @KidODeath500 I think its used for bait -some were 16" i seen

  • excuse me but daytona is not the shark attack capitol of the world because i believe it is a beach just a little farther south called new smyrna.......we go there every year and i want to start surf fishing there but i dont have any ocean gear yet would you recomend anything?

  • what a goofy looking fish that guitar fish! dont see very many up here in michigan i know that!

  • haha i was at mylte beach i caught about 150 whiting in four days and a two foot shark

  • @fishingkid11 you did a lot better than i did

  • haha okay i was just checking cause im all new to surf fishing

  • you think a 7.6 ft med/heavy action ocean side surf rod and 12lb test line will be okay for surf fishing

  • @chinglengvang i like a little longer rod but should be ok - we used 12 i think

  • bill at 6:00 thats a mullet

  • @OlracCrisisX thats not a mullet its a ladyfish mullet are striped

  • Im going to daytona beach for January is this a good time to fish there and if so what fish are biting. Thanks

  • Do you know if january is a good time to Daytona beach and if so what kind of fish bite. Thanks

  • @mybird9 don't know but i heard it was from the guys at the pier - i'm from ny but i know may is pretty good

  • new smyrna beach is the shark bite capital of the world not daytona beach also great video

  • @padreman121 thats what the guy at the bait shop told me - glad i wasn't standing chest deep in the water at new smyrna beach then

  • thanks very much. i left out one thing though haha. on the mullet did you use them whole or cut and were did you hook them?

  • @austinthepilot16 the smaller mullet 5 -7 " we used whole hooked through the head .the bigger mullet we cut chunks

  • hi great vid here.

im going on a trip to Galveston texas in a few weeks and and i plan to do quite a bit of surf fishing throughout the week im down there. i just have a few questions i see your using shrimp and mullet. i usually use dead shrimp. but are the shrimp and mullet your using dead or alive?

and on the steel leaders how are you rigging them the ones im using have 2 swivels and im curious if the sinkers go on the top swivel and hook on the bottom or vise versa?

  • @austinthepilot16 we used dead bait - shrimp worked best.

the steel leader rig -the hook was bellow the sinker.

we used pompano rigs too -where theres 2 hooks above the sinker.

good luck out fishin man and watch out for sharks

  • Very cool video guys! Brings back memories, I lived in Port Orange for 3 years. Used to catch whiting on "sandfleas" I'd dig out of the sand with my toes.

  • oh i think it was acoustic lol

  • oh i think it was acoustic lol

  • Gotta cook those pomps fresh on the grill, whole (head on)! Why?? 1. Its a pompano tradition. 2. They taste much better due to some sort of fluid release in the head. 3. Because Flipper said so :o)

  • I was just there in april doing the same exact thing! so much fun!

I think we were in the same area you are at! WE caught a couple whiting some blue runner, and a ton of black drum!

  • Interesting video RS. Did you need a salt water license? The bikin's didn't distract you did they?lol

  • @rehamkram had to pick up a 3 day salt water license for fishing the beach -think it was 17.50 - no license needed on the pier and charter boat

  • bill i think you can catch fish everywhere you go! nice

  • Cool video Bill- diving birds mean its time to fish!

    -Craig

  • Love it... what's a little fog?!

  • Gettin' er in before the oild slick devistation?

  • You gotta try a yellow and silver cleo out their. It works super. With a home made steel leader.I make my own from braided stainless from bass proshops. I get out at first light and cast with a 9.5 rod made to toss heavy spoons. Those pompano really give you a run for your money eh? I got one a few years back and it took out a hundred yards of line. it was about four pounds. Hey great video again guys .Thanks.

  • @lewandlo thanks for the tip - got to try it next year when i go back.

they do pull pretty hard for their size

  • Great fishing! Try some surf fishing in Long island!

  • I love lady fish, they are so much fun to catch, and fight like crazy i heard that in some places they are known as "poor-man's tarpon"

  • @dobbsy1231 i was surprised by the fight the ladyfish put up for its size

  • I'm headed to Hilton Head this week. This is exactly what I was looking for. Do you guys ever do any shore casting like this in Lake Erie? I know its a whole other animal, but just curious.

  • @68inwood we used to do some shore casting for walleye and steelhead but in waders - too cold for the swim trunks

  • Awesome, My family owns time share on Daytona Beach. Man I miss that place. Seeing this video makes me want to go back to the good ole' state of Florida.
