@ABGAN100 I live in the states for only three months a year. I still find it very difficult to explain the culture of guns to my friends in Europe. I work in Norway occasionally. The most I can say is that for the majority of people in Norway gun control is not an issue. Very few have any desire to own a handgun and less to own an automatic shoulder mounted gun. Hunting rifles are common because the hunting is bountiful. Having lots of handguns in Norway would not have stopped this.

2: less strict gun laws will reduce murder rates
most studies found a correlation between gun ownership and gun related murder. you also have to consider different gun cultures and the effect of introducing new carrying laws (followed by more guns). this is not a topic in norway

@sidperoviz ok, i've seen all 4 parts. that guy was well informed and he made sound arguments (some strange things said about ww2 but that wasn't the topic anyway). looks like he is pretty much spot on regarding breivik. a factual error was made by alex. in addition to the max sentence of 21 years alex mentioned, he can be sentenced to containment. this means that when his sentence has passed he will be evaluated and can be imprisoned for 5 years more. this can be repeated indefinitely. cheers

@ABGAN100 I live in the states for only three months a year. I still find it very difficult to explain the culture of guns to my friends in Europe. I work in Norway occasionally. The most I can say is that for the majority of people in Norway gun control is not an issue. Very few have any desire to own a handgun and less to own an automatic shoulder mounted gun. Hunting rifles are common because the hunting is bountiful. Having lots of handguns in Norway would not have stopped this.

In this case AJ's "facts" are faulty. The "bombing exercise" mentioned in part 2 did NOT happen 'a few days before the bombing'! The building in the video is called the 'sugar lump' and was often used in anti-terror excercises in Oslo. However, it was demolished in May 2010! Just saying.

Knowing it is going to happen and letting it happen is a way to stage something. Taking steps to delay the arrival of help is type of stage. Blowing up building to divert help away is a stage. But if it helps, you tell me, what do you call it? I call it STAGED. It saves letter space.
