Also, the developed world uses way more resources than the rest. Finally, the best voluntary way to reduce population is to economically and socially empower women, educate women, and allow widespread availability of birth control. Now how many square feet in an acre? There are 43,560 square feet in one acre. Go ahead divide and you will find that "every single person" will have enough room to build a small but humble home. Also, the developed world uses way more resources than the rest. So families will keep having children until they produce at least a couple of boys. This then obviously passes down to the next generation, resulting in an exponential birt rate.
In Africa, there is a lack of education/religious barriers regarding birth control. Many men in rural Africa will have several wives/partners, and several children with each partner.

The world is over populated ? Well here is a easy "scientific experiment" you can do. Take the worlds population (roughly 6,500,000,000) and divide it in to the total acreage of Texas (Total Area Texas covers 268,601 square miles (171,904,640 acres).) Now how many square feet in an acre? There are 43,560 square feet in one acre. Go ahead divide and you will find that "every single person" will have enough room to build a small but humble home. Allot of the Earth is left over. Think about it!

@lgbuzals Mexico doesn't have a high birth rate. Their total fertility rate is currently 2.1 to 2.3, which is replacement rate. Mexicans in the USA, however, do have loads of babies.

@arbiterjei Maybe because religion is making thing worse. The African population is growing rapidly, yet the Catholic church condemns the use of contraceptives. (On the other hand, this encourages the spread of AIDS, so I suppose I can give them a thumbs up for helping keep the death rate up?) There are also many Christian organizations (and secular as well) that want to help feed the starving children in Africa. How are they ever to learn to control their population if we keep interfering?...

All you have to do is look at other places in the world and see that peoples that are living withing their means is because they have the ability do do so. I don't know about Canada, but here in the U.S., we have a lot of people who deny global warming. A number of those deny in part because "God is in control!"

You can tell that most of the problems in the future will be in the Midle East and Asia where most of the population is exploding unlike that in the United states. The real reason is cost, it is much cheaper to have children in asia then in the United States. The average cost to raise a child in the United States is $250,000 until they turn 18.

Yes, 9 billion in 2050, then stabilization and then decline. Nothing scary. Also consider that the population of Russia is falling, as shown, and Russia is BY FAR the largest nation in area and is currently NOT overcrowded in any way. There is plenty of room people, there is plenty of food. Don't be fooled. We're all human, we all have the same right to life and to reproduce life.

China has had a 1 child birth rate rule inplace since 1978. I wonder if USA will do the same? India will produce more universtiy graduates 2010 than USA has people under 16 years old. Shanghai has a population higher than NYC and London and Luxembourg combined! A child is born every 60 second in UK.

Japan seems crowded because most people live in the same few cities and the terrain is so mountainous. Russia has the greatest landmass by far in the world, and a similarly shrinking popuation.
