Eventually, I'm getting one of these. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Plus being able to do my own annual inspection would be great, especially for my wallet!
I'm 5'11, and I sat in the back seat of a demonstrator plane at Oshkosh. I would probably be okay back there for short flights by sitting at an angle (just by myself, not two people in back), but I think long flights would not be comfortable.
@devildrummerjack - You may have gotten the correct "factory" answer by now, but Glasair Aviation says that the optional rear seat is designed for a max 5' 7" person. Obviously that varies a bit depending how long or short waisted you are. It was never designed to be a full, four-place airplane. That is what 2+2 means, sort of like a "rumble seat" is an old car! If you don't put in the rear seat or if you do and then remove it, the baggage area his HUGE.
this is a great plane! but has no-one heard of the jodel d.140? it'll do similar things (although might be a bit slower) and has been around for over 50 years!
This plane really is great!!!! I just saw the video and I must say that this is a plane im willing to but...The kits are so reasonably priced and I hear that their not that difficult to make. Just an amazing airplane!!!!
FINALLY! I am so glad Glasair put this video up on YouTube. This is my dream plane and several times a day I might watch this video. I hope that other Sportman pilots will post video of their adventures in their Sportsman. For me, this is the plane that I am saving up for and will eventually buy. Way to go Glasair for giving us an airplane that will take us into the backwoods, for a picnic in the Arizona desert during February, or do that cross country at speeds that make flying fun.
The amazing thing about this airplane is it's for real. I recently got to fly it (the tri-gear version) and what a hoot! It really does do what they say it will.
I'm a Glasair builder, and that's a great kit, but this thing is top of the line. You really can build one in 2 weeks. I saw one at Sun 'n' Fun built by an owner in that program.
This plane is very awesome. If I can ever save up the money, this is the one I'll get!

Can anyone who has one tell me if you can fit comfortably a bigger person in the back like a 6foot guy?

Reminder: It's not a great high density altitude plane, at least with an O-320 and fixed pitch prop.

The Sportsman is designed around the 180hp O360 - the O320 is really too small for it.

i saw a blue nob i think its variable-pitch or you can get ones with variable or ones with fixed.
