Yeah this sound cames from low life companies . Buy a new PSU from a GOODlike brand like SEASONIC and you can enjoy the confort frim it for the rest of you`r life
I have identical problem with my new hardware set. I have Xigmatek 600W PSU and after i bought Palit Geforce GTX 570 Sonic Platinum to replace Club3D Radeon HD 5770 my coil noise got very irritating. It made little noise with the old GPU and only in some really high FPS 3D gamemenus like in Starcraft II. With my new GPU it squeals always when GPU load goes over 10%. I looked Palits requirements for that card, it said minimum 12V 38A and PSU gives only 12V 32A. I think that's the problem here.
Yeah I have that card too. Asus CuCore EAH5770. The good news is that mine isn't that loud, so I can ignore it while I play. I also had this problem (but worse) with a Diamond HD5770. So, I think ATI just doesn't go with my computer.
My good old nvidia 8800GT doesn't make a single sound when I use it instead. But I stick with the 5770 because it's the better card.
That is really loud! My MSI motherboard makes coil noise, but it is high pitched and way quieter than that PSU's. I don't mind a little coil noise; it lets me know when my computer is doing something current intensive. Good demonstration. +5

dude relax my gtx275 do that, my friends gtx285 do that, is not a defective psu or gtx285, 65% of the 200 series create high pitch noise under 3d load, i read so many forums about that evga claims that this is normal, enjoy your card :)
Not at all. It's electrical noise from dodgy internals, probably a capacitor. You can easily tell from the way the noise reacts to different loads induced by looking around in a game.
How about you don't talk until you know how to spell, smart ass.
I've been building computers for 4 years know, I know more than you do.
It's obviously something to do with the amount of power communicating with the graphics card (Because it has different pitch sounds during different video actions.)
Lets see, fans squeal now? No. They might tick if something is wrong with the bearings, or if its hitting something inside the psu, but not noises like that.
Second, fans aren't load based in 99% of power supplies, so the little change in the power consumed won't make the fan speed change. Its TEMPERATURE BASED. It would take a considerable amount of time for it to heat up and cool down.
@RSbart123789 i got that problem too with my psu . it makes a humming noise whenever i load a game. and when video change, the high pitch changes too. the grafics card is powered by the mobo. do you think i need to buy a video card with seperate power connectors or is the capacitor in the psu really busted i wonder. im getting another card in the future anyways , but i hate to buy a new psu ,its brand new. (nexus rx 1000w) what do you think might be the solution.
I was able to return the PSU, then I bought a Corsair HX1000W, and it's really quiet, there is still a low squeal at really high fps (1000+) but its a really quiet squeal and much more high pitched than in the video, I have my computer on the floor and I'm not able to hear the noise from there, also if I limit the fps to 60 there is no noise at all. *sweet*
What kind of games are you playing? Does it buzz with a low load if you get really close to it? I was thinking about going for a Modu82+ but they seem so junky inside..
Crysis, Stalker, Need for Speed (all of them), Bioshock, Fallout3...
Dead silent at low load, no buzz on disk activity, no squeal when scrolling in windows.
I tried Enermax 720, as I only have had good experience with Enermax before, but I was surprised to find out that the fan is loud as hell and has a mechanical tic-tic-tic-tic sound to it, also feat. a low squeal when scrolling/ moving windows in windows, and a pretty high squeal in games, lower than Zalman but still too much.
mine just vibrates i think its the fan ut sometimes its randomly turned off and wouldn't go back on i was like wt the fudge and it gets really loud in game but not on desktop wtf is up wid it
shit my psu is doing this, though not this abysmal.
But why the fuck does it happen, all the shit on ma pc is new and working fine, shit is the psu going to die? is there a risk for it to take ma whole pc down with it?
PSU makes the noises, doesn't mean it's the problem. I have the noise using a range from all the different manufacturers. I think my board is doing something bad to my PSU's.
My 850W Silverstone OP850 PSU does this when i run any 3D app, even vista screensaver. (Using Vista 64,XFX GTX280, P5Q-E MB, what the hell is it?) RMA-ing psu, dont trust it.
Mine just started doing this. The system as a whole has been acting funny. Mine is ALOT higher pitched than yours. What I get for being cheap/lazy and running a dual core system with an 8800GTX running off of a 3 year old 380W CoolerMax powersupply.
I had the same noise, but the noise came from the very sound in my speakers, not from the PSU.
Getting an isolator solved the problem.

Wow I have never had this problem, even during the short time I was using a GTX 480 on a 500W PSU (I know, stupid.)

My PSU is an OCZ 850w and I have the same noise in it.
Well, looks like is normal hehehe

It's just because the psu fan speeds up because it's using more power to power the graphic card and stuff, the fan speeds up to keep it cool.

The fan is amazingly quiet. Currently my case is 60c and the PSU fan hasnt gone up a bit. [ Don't ask why its that hot, lol ].

not harmful and never goes away :/
you just need to find psu without the problem. lower wattage= less likely to have problem

Same problem here, not as bad, but I have the 850W.
Anyone know a PSU that DOESNT do this?
