  • this shit hurts because my doctor doesnt numb me and its all over my boob and my side and he has to do it for a long time and it burns alot

  • I stopped treatments for high school and I have a birthmark on my right cheek. The problem is mine is bumpy and not smooth and you can always tell I have a birthmark. Does anyone know if there are specific treatments for that?

  • I have a port wine stain on my whole left side of the neck In my country there wasn`t any specific laser for this until a few years ago so when i was younger i always wore scarves(even at 35 degrees!!) I just didn`t want any attention because of the birthmark. I started a vbeam laser treatement and now from dark red it`s pink & in some areas it disappeared completely .PS: u`re right , as u grow older u care less about what people that`s why i finally stopped wearing scarves

  • Hey, I just wanted to though out a thank you, I've been having these all over my face since I was six months old and have had sugeries over my right and left checks, chin, lower lip, and down the front of my neck to reduce the dark purple I was born with... Although I don't get to use numbing cream anymore, haha. You seem like an amazing person, I hope your treatment works as well as mine have.

  • Thanks for posting this, now I actually know what the heck the doctor is doing to me with the goggles on haha. Your dots after treatment are a lot smaller than when I get my treatments done..

  • hi..myy name is jenny, and i have a birthmark too.its pretty big and its on my right side..ive had lasor surgerys from age 3..its so weird to meet ..or atleast see someone with the same thing..

  • i have a port wine stain on my left cheek close to my eye im 13 and so far today was my 17th laser surgery luckily the doctor says at the 18th i will not have to have any anestisia and anistisia sucks so im happy about that

  • i have a facial port wine stain and i started treatment with vbeam laser. My doctor wont use anesthesic because she said it will tighten the veins and interfere with treatment. It doesnt hurt so much.

  • I remember these laser treatments when i was younger... my pws is laaaaaaaarrrgeee, not on my face however, myn is on my right hand all the way up my arm to my neck, then on my chest, side, n back.... my treatments always hurt sooo bad, are these new ones not as bad, when it comes to the healing part?

  • Hello, thanks so much for posting this video. I have a very large port wine stain that covers my whole left arm, chest, neck and back. I am very shy about it. Your video is an inspiration. I have not had any laser treatment yet, but hopefully soon this year. You seem so relax while they did the laser... did it not hurt at all? Thanks again!

  • @ilokahno I have the exact same thing on my right side

  • You are such a beatiful girl it is so neat to see so many who have a porwine stain similar or close to mine ! i didnt think many were out there but i watched your Doc. and i went back to my Dermatologist they gave me the lidocain cream just today i am so thrilled hoping it helps with the pain ! ty for your video!

  • This is amazing, I have had the exact same experience down to the covering of my face with the wrap and the exact same sounding machine and everything. As a 15 year old male who has never used make-up to conceal this, it has been tough. I had gone off treatment for the past two years because I saw no improvement despite doing it monthly from around 8 months old to age 12. It really touched me to see that someone else has experienced the same thing and that I am not alone. Thanks.

  • Thankyou!! I have a pws birthmark covering around half of my face & neck and a bit on my back. I've had a lot of laser treatment, it didn't really do much. I'm 15 now and I don't go anywhere at all without makeup. My birthmark actually gives me A LOT of problems, I've had 'granduloma's' growing on my face & head. And I've had to have surgery's to remove them, it's horribly painful. I'm thinking about getting laser treatment again, do you think it would be worth it? - Has the laser improved? >w<

  • Thank you, i'm 15 and live in Florida and have an extensive port wine stain on my thigh. I have been getting treatments since i was little but it really bothers me because i am a ballet dancer and it makes me feel very uncomfortable. i never wanna wear shorts or show people. Its not really gone yet but its more of a pink color now. But you did help a lot and its nice to have someone i can relate to. <3-Johannna.

  • Hi!!My name is Alex(boy not a girl...:p)...i am from greece....well first of all i have to say you are godamn pretty girl!!!I really need your advice since you had a bisthmark...i have a birthmark onmy right cheek, covering my eye and eybrow...its pretty big and its red!!!(port wine stain) and i'm feeling very depressed about it...:(...i had some laser treatments since i was a child about 1-2 years old...but my birthmark stayed the same...:(((...soplease give me an advice to what can i do please

  • Congratulations in making your Video. I know how embarrasing it is to even talk about it. I've had a facial birthmark all my life (now 46) and am in the middle of getting laser treatment. You are a champion .

  • Hi! You probably hear this kind of stuff so often that the rest of your face turns red either through anger or embarassment (!), but even with the birthmark, you look really pretty. You have such an appealing persona, that the marks arn't all that noticeable. I'm always really impressed when people don't let things like that break them down, and you're really impressive. The Purple People Eater never looked so good!

    Peace!

  • @georginiou Thank you so much :D lol that comment made my day!

I do get the embarrassment, or "hey did you just go on a run" comment a lot, so i am totally use to it.

    thank you!

  • @365Dakota Hah, glad I didn't annoy you! So, will the treatment ever make the birthmark completely disappear (or as good as)? If it did disappear, would you feel like you'd lost something of yourself? I expect having the birthmark since being a kid, it's shaped your personality somewhat.

  • I totally look up to you , I have a port wine stain too and have laser treatments since I was a couple months old. I can't go anywhere without makeup :( but you've really helped me btw you're very pretty so dont let anyone ever get you down .xx from melissa age 13 , england xx

  • @coolchik17 Hey Melissa! Where is your port wine stain if you don't mind me asking. I'm soo soo glad i could help you in anyway :D Have you ever tried going places without make up? (i don't know how deep your stain is) The older i have gotten the more i don't even care to cover it as much anymore. I just keep sunscreen on it to keep it from showing up as much. lol

Stay strong beautiful! and keep me posted on your treatments!

  • @365Dakota

Her first treatment starts in Nov, when she will be 1 years old. It has really helped to see how you feel and even tho i can see it can be hard for you, you are a beautiful person ! and seem happy and confident ,Which is just the attitude i want my daughter to grow up with, Thank you! And good luck!!

  • @keeley263 I'm so glad it helped you! The best advice i can give you, that my mom did for me when i was younger, was not "baby" me after my treatment( ?) She made me go to school, and out in public treated me like nothing was different, and you'll run into all types of people, people who stare and people who just want to talk.. but i honestly believe it made me more confident and more understanding of other people in life.

Thank you for watching and let me know how her first treatment goes!!

  • Dakota, thanks for your video. My daughter (15) had 3 treatments for her PWS back when she was under 2yrs.. She has been struggling with does she get surgery again, and why cant people just accept me. After 15 years we don't even see it, but the kids at school can be so cruel. She found your video and immediately sent the link to her mother and I. She has decided to visit a Doc, and thats a step. Thanks again, your openness has touched her, no matter what she chooses.

  • @1LilStinker Im so glad this video helped her!! let me know what she decides for sure!

and i know kids can be jerks :/ but i know she is probably such an amazing person, she can handle them :D

  • Hey My name is katy. I have a big port stain that covers the entire left side of my face.. what make up do you use?! you are such an amazing person and brave to get online and do this

  • @SummerGlitz08

    Thank you very much Katy!

I use, honestly what ever is on sale at CVS, i just usually put a little bit more on the birthmark! Have you gotten any treatments? (if you dont mind me asking)

  • hi, i'm a 16- year old guy. i live in belgium (europe) and i have a rather light stain under my left eye. i'm thankful that i have a light stain when i see the darker/purple ones. mine is kinda pink and rather small. i've had like 4 treatments so far of 5 min. every 3 months. i see a little bit improving, but i heard that if you get lasered allot , you will get scars. Is this true?because i don't wanna have scars :S ... i kinda feel uncomfortable sometimes because of my stain. Any advise for me?

  • @souldragon9 I have never scared and i have gotten a lot of them... some times after a treatment i have a few spots that are lighter than the rest of my skin... but they always even out after the next treatment/ on there own..

The best Advise i can give you for not feeling like that, is just embracing it and knowing that you have a treatment to make it fade away :D

let me know how your next treatment goes!!

  • @365Dakota ok :) thnx !

  • @souldragon9 I just saw your video !!! thats awesome! and your english is great!

  • @365Dakota thanks :D

  • your face looks great

  • Hey, im 13 and i have a really dark one under my left eye. I hate having it and it makes me feel insecure. Can you tell me how much this surgery cost? I hate looking in the mirror and seeing it because it makes me feel ugly. Is there any other way than surgery or is there any other kind of surgery that doesnt take so long to work.?

  • @candy27909 I dont know how much the surgery cost :[ but you can talk to doctors about that and sometimes insurances help cover it... I havent heard about anything yet.. but they are always trying to find new ways!! ill let you know about anything i hear. and dont feel ugly Ive learned that if i didnt have this i woudlnt be who i am today..

  • I have a really purple one under my eye and it sucks and makes me feel a bit uglier than my friends. Can you tell me how much these procedres cost? Im only 13 but i really just want it gone!

  • i was lucky enough to be born with a port wine stain on my leg, but it's on the lower front calf part which makes me uncomfortable wearing dresses, shorts etc. i've had my first treatment in november/december 2009, and since then i've been denied laser twice, because of me having such a pale skin colour! the pigmentation stayed and is fading slowly but i don't know whether to carry on with the treatment... i don't want to be knocked down again i guess. any ideas?

  • There is a numbing cream that doesn't require plastic wrap and numbs within 20 minutes.

  • @conguera whats its called!!!

  • Thanks for a very well documentary I have one PWS in my face too considering going to tx in US again after a comeback or regresion.

  • big respect for you !!! what you do shoot be a accemple for all the people with "abnormalities" that try to hide them...

    greats from holland !

  • If you dont mind me asking how many treatments have you had cuz ur face looks amazeing before you got the laser. I just started my laser and had like 4 and i dont relize much of a differnce yet.

  • @ScreamoLifeSon i have had 50 or 60.. honestly i could have had more we never thought of counting... im actually getting another tomorrow, so we got to it before it really got super obvious.

I dont know how deep yours is, but stick with it!! youll notice a difference :D im sure of it! keep me updated!

  • no, havent had any treatments in a few years as said before... so its still a darkish purple color.

  • @w00dbeck

    Thank you for watching :D

I wanted to know if there was anyone else out there who went thru what i did, and to let my family know what i go thru as well !!

    Dakota

  • Hey Dakota,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I have a similar birthmark like yours on my shoulder and arm. Can I know how much did one laser treatment cost you? Thanks!

  • @littlem1206

    Thank you for watching :D

Usually the insurance covers most of it but it is usually just under $800 without insurance.

  • Hey Dakota,

This video is really awesome. I also have a port wine stain and used to take treatments when i was younger, but i stopped getting treatments around the age of 13 or 14 because my mothers insurance couldnt cover it anymore. i find the treatments great. I still live day to day with mine under my right eye, oddly in the shape of the USA haha. but once again, GREAT job on the video. :]

  • @hoodie08

hahah i wish mine had a sweet shape! on my chest it kind of looks like a vase when he zaps it just right lol ;]

Have you gotten any more treatments now that your older?

and thank you so much for watching!!

    Dakota!

  • Hi Dakota!

You're beautiful - inside & out. Thanks for sharing this. I was born in 1964 with a pigmented nevus over my right eye. Had aprox. 15 skin grafts and one laser treatment (18 mos - 18 yrs old).

You have an awesome attitude - you'll go far.

    - Kristin

  • @619karl

Wow you have been through a lot! Did the skin grafts help more than the laser did in your case?

    and thank you Kristin!!

    Dakota

  • Dakota you totally rock! I have a PWS on the right side of my face patterned like yours. Been getting treatments for about 15 years.

    Keep rockin' girl!

    -Charlie

  • @CWCale How has your been fading out?! Do you have a picture of yours after one of the treatments :D and thanks charlie!!

  • Hi Dakota, My name is Jake, I'm 8 and I have a port wine stain & I have the same surgery. I really liked your video because it shows people more about birthmarks.

  • @kellyhouse23 Thanks Jake! I'm glad you liked the video. Where is your PWS at? And how many surgeries have you gotten so far ?

  • My PWS is on my right cheek. It's shaped like a Q. I've gotten 22 surgeies so far. How many have you gotten?

  • @kellyhouse23 I have had, 50-60 so far... i wish i would have counted to i knew the exact amount like you do thats pretty cool!

  • @365Dakota I posted a video response so you could see my birthmark but I don't know if I did it right. Did you get it?

  • @kellyhouse23 I looked all over but I couldn't find it.

  • Interesting and Cool! You did a nice job, Dakota!

  • @MattyJoe44 thank you so much :D

  • Dakota ~

Thank you for your email about Calley's PWS youtube video. I created the video to show her PRE-K class what she would look like after year the treatment. She is still not really self conscious about it but I can't stand how people stare at her . . . I am protective of my little one!

I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for taking the time to create it! It is promising to see how great you look cause I often wonder what is in Calley's future. Take care! You are beautiful!

  • @NJSpina Sometimes i think its harder on the parent, my mom always had it harder than i did with people looking... After having it so long I know im more use to it.. when i was younger i loved to show people! lol

Thank you for making your video! For a long time i thought i was the only one going thru any of this.

  • hahah i know ;] Steve your the only one minus the rents and my grandmas to ever go thru the process with me! dont you feel special now ;]

  • Doc had to comment on the piercings lol nice.

  • @stevefrost831 i know right!

  • Dakota YOUR SO PRETTY, Im sorry for the discomfort you have to go through thx for sharing your very inspiring!
