Don't mean to be a party pooper but I'm wondering if Victor can ever pull an all-round jazz solo following all the chord changes, etc. Slapping around a single chord doesn't do it for me.

I'd rather hear 30 seconds of Jaco playing music than 6 minutes of Victor slapping his arse off... Sure it's clever, better than I'll ever be able to play bass, but what's the point? It just sounds like the same thing over and over to me? But then maybe I just don't get it. I like to hear a tune at some point... Give me Weather Report over this anyday...

@terrykumar Hi, don't get me wrong, I get what he's doing, just not why - I just don't dig it, as you say. Victor is a magician, I've never yet heard better technically, but he doesn't 'do it' for me. Some of what he's done is amazing, and I love it, but 'notes for notes sake' (if that's the right description, forgive me if not) just isn't my thing. I love Marcus's playing too, but when he slapped his way through 'Looking up' with Petrucciani it killed it for me. Do you know what I'm saying?
