No Steven Green trial is ongoing and he may not serve time. The coward soldiers who killed 24 civilians including little girls and women in Iraq got off. This early withdrawal has nothing to do with satisfying the public. Politicians couldn't care less what the public thinks. Their actions are dictated by self interest. On the rare occasions that a politician does act according to the will of the people, they do so reflexively in the need to protect their career.
The real reason for this hastened withdrawal is to free up military resources for the eventuality of war with Iran.
The politicians/office holders have kept America at war for the last ten years. How many politicians have served? How many politicians have gotten killed or maimed in those wars? How many of the rich Wall Street money grubbers have served or been killed or injured in those profitable wars? How many RICH PEOPLE have served in those wars or been killed or maimed? There are only a few thousand Taliban in Afghanistan but an estimated million armed men within the ranks of the resistance movement. This is because the majority of Talib are Pashtun and so all Pashtun tribes have united against a common enemy who has illegally occupied Afghanistan. Both Islam and Pashtunwali install a sense of responsibility in a person when ones home is under attack. Unfortunately the actions of the Taliban are used to demonize the entire resistance.
