it never seizes to amaze me how much detail, thought and effort is put into the environment of gta 4. it makes you wonder why the hell games like COD or Halo still remain the most popular. i mean those games only require the IQ of a monkey to play, and they are mass produced crap that is made one year after the other, and the attention to detail really isnt that good neither is the story, and gameplay sucks.... and yet those crappy games still rank their position near the top...

@FlippyDogLP longest recording was for 1 hour or so. Not a real problem since I compressed the video

from the Xbox on the fly to Mpeg2 so not too much data was created. Then I time compressed that shot and deleted the original to save disc space.

@MachStudios How did you use the Xbox 360 version to create this? Your scenes are perfect! The time lapse really gives it another level of immersion. But how did you do it? Namely, how did you work the camera movements and the time lapse? I'm intrigued!

@ncn8ochaser : For time lapse shots just record long enough sequences and the time compress with a video editor. Static camera shots where done in 1st person view from a bike or car. Aerial shots where done 1st person view when flying the helicopter. These were the most tricky since you have to fly very very very slow because of the time lapse and you are not allowed to do any control/correction of the flight during the shot, a lot of try an error and hours of recording went into this.

Amazingly smooth zooms. The ground level shots that was sped up looked awesome. The traffic circle sync was very well done. Can you imagine some Narration over this after the intro. This could be developed so much from this point. Very inspiring. Music was excellent.
