@GDuff123 ISI troops are routinely captured in Afghanistan and promptly returned to Pakistan. That Pakistani forces are working with the taliban is not a suprise. A 70 year old businessman kidnapped from Islamabad by Al Quaeda. The loss of the 24 Pakistani soldiers was not a friendly fire situation. Ground troops on the Afghan side of the border came under ground fire and they called in the airstrike hitting the target that fired upon them. Looks like no apology is forthcoming.

@AmericanPatriot53 Precisely, what frustrates me as a Pakistani though is the 'evangelical baggage' that comes with supporting a theocratic ideology - I don't have a problem with religion, I'm a Muslim myself, but the evangelical fanaticism that's taken root in the country over the past decade is a worrying trend - this is a hallmark of the Afghan-Soviet war. I merely hope that better days come in the region, but it would be foolish to assume that things are going to improve soon.

Many large and powerful countries such as Russia and China have all thrown in their statements condemning the United States for their action. So far, only the United Arab Emirates has asked that Pakistan stand down, but ONLY at the airport, as the airport is owned by the United Arab Emirates and was leased to the U.S. Pakistan has expressed desire to begin a war with the U.S. Pakistan is a nuclear power.

Be a bit realistic, will ya??!!! Pakistan's 25 KT nukes is like a FART when compared to the 50-75 MT US nukes!!! Just having a nuke is NOT sufficient, even its power also matters!!!! Even China with its 3-6 MT nukes will just shut its trap before even thinking of attacking either US or even Russia (which has the world's most powerful nuke)!

The only reason I said anything is because I am AGAINST the idea of a nuclear attack. Every little thing that both sides do now will be picked apart, there will likely be conflict. It may be major, it may not, likely it would not reach U.S borders, assuming we were fighting only Pakistan. I don't think it's wise to contribute to the idea of two nations, both with reckless leaders(The U.S and Pakistan), and each with their own recognized nuclear arsenal, waging any sort of war

Its not necessarily an "IF", because Pakistan is openly considering military retaliation. This could lead to massive conventional warfare, but sadly its also not impossible a small nuke could be used against U.S forces in Afghanistan.

Also, explosive yield does not necessarily present a correlation with radioactive yield. A 5kt bomb could still be loaded with radioactive material. And i know you're too young, stupid, and unwilling to listen to others to know how quickly radiation spreads.The answer, is as fast as the wind. In a few days, a powerful radioactive bomb's fallout could stretch around the planet, depending on weather conditions. Theres a reason we are disarming our nuclear weapons.

@rationalindian10 This is all scaremongering, Pakistan will not engage the US through nuclear war, this is entirely related to the Afghan endgame where Iran, India, Russia, China, the EU, the US and Pakistan have competing interests. It is a calculated DIPLOMATIC assault on Nato, with wider interests taken into account.

@PhoenixSF90 Exactly. The Pakistanis feel a need to support the taliban because they will have greater influence over a taliban government after the US leaves in 2014. Once NATO leaves there will be a vacuum that Pakistan seeks to fill. Not a bad policy position actually (on Pakistans part) but it is sad that troops on the ground pay for political posturing.

@GDuff123 Pakistan is not going to engage the US in war, that's absurd and ridiculous. Popular sentiment is anti-American, but Pakistan's military is not foolish. Pakistan is sick of being America's puppet, but you can't extrapolate that to war - it will devastate Pakistan (and the wider region) - this is a calculated diplomatic response to the Nato raid, not a declaration of war.

The Pakistan government is treating this as an invasion, it sucks kid, but sadly there are many people in Pakistan who want justice, if they do not get it they will go and get it themselves. I doubt there'd be a war anywhere outside the Middle East, but American forces could still be killed. Just look it up, would you?

@GDuff123 ISI troops are routinely captured in Afghanistan and promptly returned to Pakistan. That Pakistani forces are working with the taliban is not a suprise. A 70 year old businessman kidnapped from Islamabad by Al Quaeda. The loss of the 24 Pakistani soldiers was not a friendly fire situation. Ground troops on the Afghan side of the border came under ground fire and they called in the airstrike hitting the target that fired upon them. Looks like no apology is forthcoming.

We want diplomacy but we are faced with the challenge of Cultures clashing, A secular/judeo/christian culture clashing with islamic culture. Read the pro islamic posts here they are less than diplomatic. Each culture seeks to dominate the other. Islamic cultures tend to have lower literacy rates and highly religious and dependent populaces. Our own illiteracy rate and dependency is also increasing. War is probable.
