@LloydyFckinB Thanks! To be honest, I'm not sure what technique I use. lol I just try to let the stick bounce as much as possible. It just may be a drop-grab but I'm not really certain.
Wow, you're an excellent instructor and innovator, and I really dig the fact that you are drawn to unique hardware as such is the case with your cymbals. Great work.
That sounds hot!!!, wish I could play drums, but I'm a bit limited to my acoustics at my house, so no drums except maybe electric kits for me. :( ...well I'm a bassist anyway, so I get to annoy my neighbors with my grooves. Thanks for the reply though. Drums are just an intriguing instrument that I'll always want to play but never have the right surrounding for, unless I move in the middle of nowhere. Keep posting though, Love your stuff!
love your clips man, you teach in such a good way :D breaking it riiight down, then putting it back together again is really good. thanks for uploads.
@kindbeats :O and youve replied so soon :D haha im a metal orientated drummer, but latley ive been playing allot more groove and kind of jazz stuff instead of blast beats and double peddle XD
Awesome video! Thanks for sending it! Your kit sounds awesome, and that stack- cymbal is cool! You're a good player! And these videos are really good, you really know how to play and you know how to teach all this stuff! (: cool!
@Jigsaw2533 It's all good. Different double strokes for different folks! ;) It's actually a stack consisting of four separate bronze plates. Hope you enjoyed the groove though!
@HisteriaX Nothing is wrong with my cymbals. It's called sound preference, and I prefer trashier sounding cymbals. It's all a matter of personal taste.
@kindbeats not saying they are terrible, they just look fucked up. and yeah i understand the trashier noises, but have some tonality to at least some of your cymbals. its not all about the sizzle. just like drums aren't all about the thud.
@HisteriaX My cymbals have plenty of tonality and I think they look awesome. I am only playing on one cymbal in this entire video, and that cymbal is actually a stack. It's not meant to be tonal, it's supposed to be a short, choked sound. Check out some of my other vids to hear all of my cymbals.
@kindbeats checked out some other stuff. you have a very unique sounding drum kits. i have to admit, there are parts of it i like, but others i don't really like. i love the tom noises. the snare has a shit ton of over tone that i dont really like. i like your style though. you're a good drummer. i'm guessing you play jazz alot?
@HisteriaX Thanks man. As for not liking parts of the kit, that's totally cool. We all like different things and that's what makes music so awesome. I do play jazz, but I really like to mix things up and try to find my own kind of sound. Thanks again for taking the time to check out some vids and write back. I really appreciate that!
Way back "In The Day"...when Motown got popular...this particular groove became prevalent and then progressed into the Rock bands of the era. There are a number of variations on the sticking of both right and left hands as well as the kick. Its nice to have a younger cat breaking it down so that the younger drummers will learn it and experiment with it. You did good young man~!
@BenMrZin Thanks and glad you enjoyed the lesson! As for my snare sound, yes, I personally like it the way it is. I know it's not for everyone, but I prefer trashier sounds.
Fat Man, very cool! I'm a music teacher too, you got talent! I like drums, is not my instrument, but I can unterstand the difference between a good and a bad drummer,
@Gr1zz3m Haha! I play all Hammerax cymbals and hybrids. The cymbal that you're referring to is called a Crash Course and is actually a stacker cymbal. I'm glad you dig both the lesson and the cymbals! :)
that only guy who disliked really needs some extra-slow demonstrations.. You're awesome at this &.. he can't be jealous!!!!!! cause you've teaching all of us!! That was an evil man..
Thanks for the Email bout ur video. Good stuff. I like how you have the transcriptions, you break it down slowly, etc. Great video and keep up the good work. Nice groove and such. If I sent a video of someone playing, would you possibly be able to break it down?
Thanks for sending this to me. Nice little groove. I could play it right away, and I was bassically waiting for you to hit that great little cymbal again. What a crispy sound! What I would do with this rhythm is to make variations after a while. But that`s me, I can`t help going "jazzy". That`s where I'm coming from. But anyway, keep up the good work, it sounds awesome what you do.
great video - I havent played in many years and this video is certainly very helpful, I bought half of the drum kit now :) just need the other half and I am certain that my wife will kick me out of the house once I start playing ( because Im so crap at the moment) but hopefully in a little while Ill be grooving again :) nice vid.!
Thanks for the recommendation! I've been looking around for instructional videos, but too many of them aren't very interesting, are poorly done, or are clips of masters far beyond my skill level. This is an awesome little groove, and I like the comfortable, informal, lessons-in-your-home-type atmosphere. Keep up the good work!
i don't really like that crash course thing, but... if i were a drummer i would find that extremely useful anyways, you really can groove. i would love to hear that beat with a band or sth, neck trauma guaranteed for sure.
