  • Like if you are here because of Harry Potter (Uncle Vernon sang this in book 1). (:

  • fuck insidious i'm here because of celebrity juice

  • i can say cute and so old!

  • insidious ftw

  • I like to sharpen my claws to this song

  • Im here because of Harry Potter

  • This song didn't scare me when I heard it on Insidious because I knew I heard it before. The only thing it reminds me of is Spongebob. I'm sure there was some place I heard it before Spongebob, but all I see is yellow for now.

  • sounds like a scary song.. even if it wasn't on insidious.. witch also scared the shit out of me.. :(

  • I remember Tiny Tim becoming a huge sensation in the late 60s performing this song with his ukelele. He was on all the major talk and variety shows and people didn't know WHAT to think of him. What few people realized was that he was only exaggerating this song a little bit!

  • Thank you for posting this... This is, as most of you know, a fairly new find. Hopefully, this film will continue to re-assemble itself!

  • I'm from Germany and I read the 'Philosopher's Stone' in German where Uncle Vernon sings „Bi Ba-Butzemann", a german children's song. I thought that he could not sing the same in English, so I read 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' in English and I found 'Tiptoe through the Tulips'. Now I hear the song all day 'cause it's wonderful!!!

  • I'm here cuz I can!

  • Love it!!!

  • its bioshock!

  • I came here because of "Here's Lucy"

They often quoted "tip toeing through the tulips" in the show :-)

  • i came here from celebrity hate mail 6

  • OMG ITS MICKEY MOUSE IN HUMAN FORM :O

  • I like tiny tim more :D

  • Thumps Up If You hate black and white shows

  • Thumbs up because you heard this song on insidious (Ghost Boy Dancing Or Ghost)

  • Hear because of Insidious

  • Its neat that they have footage like this on youtube

  • This song is a lot less scary/creepy than the Tiny Tim version. The sad part is, I don't think the Tiny Tim version was ever meant to be creepy. But it is.

  • Great guitar playing. Here he plays the bass, rhythm and other bits of orchestra parts by himself until the orchestra kicks in. Look closely at this and the other clips from later in his career all the way up the the 80's ones. He never looks down at the fretboard and never misses a note, beat or vocal line. Inspiring stuff!

  • he looks like he belongs in inglorious bastards

  • insidious was the best horror film ive ever seen and ive never been a film a scary movies but this movie was amazing

  • this song has an amazingly long shelf-life. our grandparents associated it with this OG version. people my age (i'm in my late 30s) associate it with Tiny Tim. and now a new generation will associate it with "Insidious."

  • @tsartodd I'm 16 and I still associate it with Tiny Tim. If people don't know what it is from, I will say it is from Insidious. Sad how the newer generation don't know the good old music. I love it. :]

  • OMG! its G-MAN!

  • haha look at the likes 666 number of the beast

  • Insidious made me freaking FEAR this song! Just listening to it now gives me goosebumps in case something creepy jumps out at me lol <3 xxx

  • that is fucking freaky..

The scene from insidious where that little boy is dancing is just chilling.

  • I LOVE THIS!

  • Wow, this man is serenading his woman, expressing his love and feelings through music meant as nothing but happiness. Sad that it's now looked at as a song associated with a horror movie and creepiness

  • @joshvmusic think of it this way... those who just regard this song as "creepy" wouldn't have enjoyed it in the same way me or you would in the first place. not all of the listeners associate it with horror!

  • @joshvmusic i know right this man is completely going about it all wrong why doesn't he just give her a good raping and skip the serenading parts cut out the middle man right slip her the hairy banana and be on his way like a good sir

  • creepier than the one from insidious :D

  • omfg everytime I see this gives me the shivers when the guy sings it not so bad when the girl oh shit thnkx alot insidious

  • im here because of tiny tim!

  • @tall32guy watch insideous then you'll understand

  • @arrencolor thumbs up, because were not mainstreamers who hear songs in movies smh

  • @XxTAY1ORG4NGxX Well how the hell else am i supposed to hear of it? Shake My Head.

  • @arrencolor LMAO! Yep, this song scared the crap out of me along with the movie. It was totally creepy in the movie.

  • He's a very good guitarist.

  • For anyone who don't think this is creepy watch insidious and then decide if it's still not creepy

  • @navojme I watched insidious and I don't think this is creepy, the movie wasn't even that scary.

  • I heard this song and i thought it was a cute song and then i watched insidious...

  • lovely tune. nick lucas was guitarist in Charlie Palloy's band too but ended up more well known than him i suppose. and he doesn't even have tulips behind him!? lol

  • I don't get why everyone finds this song creepy. It sounds like the typical late 20's "jig" or popular song.

  • @tall32guy watch insidious

  • He was a very handsome guy!!! :):)

  • Wow great HD for the 1929

  • @1996andrews

this is not HD you Dumb..

  • Charming early-color clip. Always nice to see films from the Jazz Age - Depression era.

  • This versions not creepy but the singer's creepy as hell!

  • Insidious. Likeee. Creepy but cool.

  • like if you were brought here from INSIDIOUS!!!!

  • this song isnt that scary..... but it has that potential i guess?

  • nothing remotely creepy about this song or performance, wtf.

  • I like this version of the song, and I also like Tiny Tim's version but this one wasnt ment to be creepy. I'm not really sure if Tiny Tim's version was even ment to be creepy.

  • insidious brought me here!!!

  • @GhostKid0201 hahahahah me too

  • @GhostKid0201 BOOOO!!!! Lol

  • This song freaks me out so bad.

  • @BeBravex IKR

  • I want to see this revised as a modern musical.

  • before insidious people dident care about this song now its holy crap this song is sooooo scary

  • yea this song is officially creepy!!!

  • I like this song 'cus of Insidious !

  • One of the creepiest songs ever.

  • What is this insidious bullshit?

  • According to the latest vitaphone project newsletter, another fragment of this film has turned up, in the UK.

  • insidious ftw

  • love this fucking song

  • man oh man, this was a simpler time.

  • Hahah Insidious alter :D

  • when i heard this song on insidious i thought of spongebob

  • I sing this to my girlfriend

  • im sorry after watching Insidious i will never hear this song the same again smh...im scared even more to go to sleep now smh lol

  • this isnt really in 1929 there was no color cameras

  • @collhiodudeoo9o WOW! You don't know anything about film history to make an ignorant remark like that.

  • @collhiodudeoo9o i think you'll find there was me old mucker ;-]

  • Tiny Tim Sang It A Little LOT Better Lol

  • What don't u understand?

  • I find this song is the less creepy version.... but the version in insidious is fkn scary

  • My Grams used to sing this to me. The first time I heard it, though, was on a Gramophone when I was seven. I'm 23 now, and ever since that day, I've wanted my own gramophone. Hopefully I'll get one some day.

  • Insidious did not bring me here either.... I'm a huge fan of vintage music. I love this song, the way they used it in insidious was brilliantly eerie, though.

  • The end of the shinning with Midnight, the stars and you, was a creepy song.

  • @lariat1980 Do not understand.

  • @lariat1980 idiot

  • insidious was a good movie and all and i love that this song was in there. I can help but feel that this song has been in other scary movies, and it kind of annoys me how insidious is the one to get a bunch of people lookin at it. Tiny Tim is pretty popular on his own right? Anyways, can someone help me out? What other movie has it been in? Preferably scary. I love when movies have music in it thats like.......creepy like that ya know what i mean?

  • The D'Alessio brothers in boardwalk empire would have rocked out to this tune.

  • Insidious did not bring me here. :D

  • what a scary fucking song

  • I take out the garbage to this song!

  • insidious didn't bring me here.

  • insidious brought me here

  • shit this song is scary man.

  • Don't you think songs like this kinda creep you out? I mean, if it was from insidious and all, shouldn't it?

  • tiptoe though the tulips

  • i sharpen my claws and dance in strangers living rooms to this song

  • @xKeeegz let me guess you saw insidious too! this song scares the heck out of me now

  • @xKeeegz Funny reference from insideous

  • scary they are all dead on this video

  • @thesouthrapsucks oh really, thats why they all look pale.scary shit

  • creepy

  • Insidious is insidious

  • The Tiny Tiim version is better though.

  • And there I thought the lyrics went "Girlfriend in a coma, I know I know, that it's serious..."

  • What is Insidious? A movie? And WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THIS?!?? You 15 or more dislikers, I'm asking you in all earnestness!

  • 'It was a different time.' - Rosalie Hale, Eclipse.

  • Sounds like freeking Mickey Mouse....

  • Was I the only one who laughed through all of Insidious and cheered at the end?

  • @djroberts07 No i laughed to

  • Lol satanic much. Incidious demon dancing

  • Since INSIDIOUS is a copy-and-paste of so many famous "horror" movies sequences (THE EXORCIST - POLTERGEIST - GHOSTBUSTERS - JEEPERS CREEPERS - LITTLE GIRL LOST from THE TWILIGHT ZONE...which was, actually, used also in POLTERGEIST ! and many others) I believe they tried to pay a tribute to SHINING by picking up an old song like MIDNIGHT, THE STARS AND YOU by Ray Nobble. And not to mention JEEPERS CREEPERS !

  • This movie made me Jump....lol....No movie does that anymore to me!!! Creepy shit!!!

  • @Mia6146 Same thing with me

  • Hahaha insidious demon x)

  • i keep expecting the insidious demon to pop out.

  • I think ommarwin has to brush up his/her knowledge of Hollywood history a bit.

Still a wonderful comment that made my day. Thanks! :)

  • stjn00,

I don't mean to be a smart-ass but, I really doubt that this broadway took place during the late 20's.

The clothing style of both the men and women looks like its back from the 40's or 50's. Besides, the video was recorded with color....

There is only black and white films in the 20's!!

  • Comment removed

  • @ommarwin hey, just google it. it was the second color movie, and was a big hit in 1929.

  • @Sanchoelmalo

Buddy, ur right. I hav checked the video out in wiki and found out that they used an early type of lumaniting colour film to record this footage. Pretty awesome that they hav used this tech since the 20's.

BTW, love the song & thanks for the upload :-)

  • @ommarwin What you are seeing is known as two-strip Technicolor, an early color process used in the 20s and 30s. For a better example you should check out The Black Pirate, a 1926 silent movie staring Douglas Fairbanks on NetFlix.

  • @ommarwin No way, Ben-Hur in 1925 and The Phantom Of The Opera in 1926 used the Technicolor two-color systemin certain scenes, and The Black Pirate from 1926 was fully in two-color! This clip is from Gold Diggers Of Broadway (1929), and King Of Jazz (1930, staring Bing Crosby) was also in color.

  • the puppets dancing to this song was the funniest part in insidious

  • Insidious? No, Chris Pontius brought me here.

  • the guy turning off the light in the minute 2:23 is dress the same way as the dancing ghost boy

  • @DJYuzoboy My bf said Bugs Bunny used to sing this song so, no, we're not all here because of Insidious.

  • @WeekOldDimitri2 , everyone is entitled to their own opinions, not everyone can love the same movie :P

Anywho, charming song by the way :D

  • If you think insidious was a stupid movie then you can just go fuck yourself

  • Better than Tiny Tim

  • this gives me the absolute CREEPS !

    CATCHY TUNE THO :)

  • this gives me the absolute CREEPS !

  • How wonderful that even a PIECE of this lost film remains... From what I've read, it was a real show-stopper in its time... Can you imagine?... Not only a talkie, but in COLOR?... I bet audiences swooned!

  • Beats Tiny Tim

  • heard this from insidious! man such a creepy song. but hearing the version of tiny tim is what makes it more creepy cuz the way his voice sounds ahhhh gives me chills haha
