I remember Tiny Tim becoming a huge sensation in the late 60s performing this song with his ukelele. He was on all the major talk and variety shows and people didn't know WHAT to think of him. What few people realized was that he was only exaggerating this song a little bit!

I'm from Germany and I read the 'Philosopher's Stone' in German where Uncle Vernon sings „Bi Ba-Butzemann", a german children's song. I thought that he could not sing the same in English, so I read 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' in English and I found 'Tiptoe through the Tulips'. Great guitar playing. Here he plays the bass, rhythm and other bits of orchestra parts by himself until the orchestra kicks in. Look closely at this and the other clips from later in his career all the way up the the 80's ones. He never looks down at the fretboard and never misses a note, beat or vocal line. Inspiring stuff!

Since INSIDIOUS is a copy-and-paste of so many famous "horror" movies sequences (THE EXORCIST - POLTERGEIST - GHOSTBUSTERS - JEEPERS CREEPERS - LITTLE GIRL LOST from THE TWILIGHT ZONE...which was, actually, used also in POLTERGEIST ! and many others) I believe they tried to pay a tribute to SHINING by picking up an old song like MIDNIGHT, THE STARS AND YOU by Ray Nobble. The clothing style of both the men and women looks like its back from the 40's or 50's. Besides, the video was recorded with color....

There is only black and white films in the 20's!!

@ommarwin What you are seeing is known as two-strip Technicolor, an early color process used in the 20s and 30s. For a better example you should check out The Black Pirate, a 1926 silent movie staring Douglas Fairbanks on NetFlix.
