  • Neat!! Though it's kind of a shame that the general public seems to have forgotten about the Voyager spacecraft.

  • it would be interesting to know what the voyager is getting, but i wouldn't be alive until they 'reach another solar system'.

  • @1WAY2HIM Of course. So that the golden record can look out on the wonders of the solar system

  • what Beethoven song was that?

  • this video was in the youtubes home page some months ago lol

  • ashhahhahahahahah so random how the guy just jumps into a riddle about this disc. lol

    nice clip.

  • funny when it said "imagine the possibility" then the alien broke it

  • Very nice visualisation!

This should be shown in schools, very inspiring and a funky mindtwist in the end - makes me want to see more of this

  • funny I was thinking this would be really good to open an exhibit at the Detroit Science Center (or any other city that has a science center)

  • My opinion on that disc: It's not good to start shouting in a jungle

  • more like the small pattern of an ant lost in the sahara

  • Hmmm... Yeah

  • If its that far away from the sun, how does it get energy?

  • in empty space things hardly slow down.

  • nasa better send this video and not a fucking golden disc!!!!

    amazing vid

    respect!

  • reminds me of hitchikers guide to the galaxy :D

  • that fits it perfectly :D

  • that is flippin cool

  • .. is this all true .. ?

  • Yes, I believe it is.

  • Yes, all of it is. Well, apart from the aliens of course :D

  • are you sure?

  • you'd wanna make sure of that. =

  • awsome! the best vidoe ever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and...so?

  • OR maybe the voyager comes back (don't ask me how) to us and we think it comes from the aliens and totally freak out. nice.

  • Actually, that would be hilarious.

  • aah that means i wont get to live long enough to see real aliens :(

  • Holy shit, dude - something GOOD came out of that school. There must be some sort of rift in the space/time continuum.

  • yes what if an alien race finds our satelite?

and they arent so friendly? but did you ever think that they may have just about the same technology level as us and it just happens to float by while their working on a space station just like we are? why do we always think that an alien race has better technology than us? but what if it goes through a rip in time and space? (its not that far fetched considerin Dr. Steven Hawkins thinks black holes spew what they suck in out the other side)think...

  • honestly dude, we're like hundreds of years from leaving our solar system. and a "wormhole" is just a theory. instead of watching star trek maybe you should catch up on ur physics :).

  • what if evil aliens get it?

  • Not your problem ;-}

  • finaly... SOMEONE EXPLAIN IT RIGHT :D

  • :O i never knew about the record ;D

  • Reminds me of spore :p

  • Here's a thought... What if another life form finds it, decodes it and is NOT friendly? We just basically said come and conquer us. Nice job.

  • yeaaa that wasn't too smart now was it idoits.

  • that sounds like a good idea in theory, but if you actually look into the topic, the messages on how to decifer anything are way too complicated for most scientists to decifer. still, its worth the effort imo. nice vid btw lol.

  • it already happened, they already sent the voyager a few years ago, IT IS TRUE OMG

  • a golden disc...cool.

  • voyager lost contact after it pased uranus right?

  • nope! it took pic of neptune actually... and even took pic of earth (as seen in al gore).

currently it reaches the solar system shockwave, heliosphere?? i forgot..

  • I'd lose contact too if I had to look at Uranus.

  • HA!

  • L

    O

    L

    good one, dork

  • very cool. makes alot of sense, and could be true as far as the general public knows. but if the aliens were... hostile... then it's an attack map, and a briefing of the enemy.

  • hahaha my thoughts exactly

  • @Thraxxacor Aliens wouldn't attack us because they would be far more advanced than us and would consider us primitive.

  • thats gay :)happy bird day

  • i love this!!!

    its freaken amazing.

  • unless it was the satelight sent to mars in the transformers movie...

    jk, thats the mars rover

  • lol

  • that was awesome :). It was interesting (in a good way). :) the graphics were spectacular. so, good job! :)

  • waths the name on this program?

  • DESCRIPTION.

  • ugh make a second one and show what the disc makes stuff do and... WHO THE HELL RATED THIS BELOW A FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you can research that online. there's also a relief sculpture of humans on the voyager. it's a really interesting subject if you dig around.

  • this reminds me of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

  • Gold Disc is so true. Learned about it.

  • 40 000 yrs till it hits another solar system... Freeze me and wake me up in 200 years maybe we will have some progress on life lightyears away.

  • they should have made them a copper record then they could afford something to play it on. What are they going to do, go to the nearest k mart and pick one up?

  • Thanks for the feedback guys! Keep them coming! We were targeting a younger audience with this. It's intented to be played a a type of science world museum for kids where parents also follow along while their kids learn.

  • go dammit.. why does my unvle have to poke his finger at every camera he sees... AND BTW! I THOUGHT HE WAS AWAY TO CANADA! not space!!!!

  • nice video that would do nasa proud. Too bad nobody has a player for that record, might as well have sent them a DVD, if they could figure out the record, a DVD is only about a few orders of magnitude harder to read.

  • Woah, I didn't know that. o:

  • I cannot believe that the whole premise of the original Star Trek film is lost already!

Yes, Voyager is real, the record is real and this animation is pretty average.

  • I agree, I didn't understand the people who said the story was nonsensical but the animation was well done; I felt the exact opposite. The monologue felt more or less read directly out of my freshman year astronomy textbook, and the animation was on par with any other mediocre flash animation you can find on the internet. All in all, I'm surprised it took three guys to make this when I've seen individual students' pieces that were so much more polished.

  • I agree with one exception - If these guys & galls had never seen the software before then the result is bloody good. It is well paced but, as you say, naive. Perhaps it was meant to look like something off children's television?

    Too many cooks?! :o)

  • Eh, you're right, maybe I was a bit harsh, I just sort of assumed that most, if not all vids posted in this channel were from senior projects and port reels. Hehe and yes, definitely too many cooks. :3

  • The VFS lot are okay but they seem a bit programmed. I made a slightly less than ingratiating comment about this work and had this guy contacting me being all 'Oh yeah, what do you mean by that then?!?'

I remember being young, I ruled the world then! {:o)

  • Sounds like music from Alpha Centaury game..

  • not bad

  • that was awesome

now i just need to know if it's actually true

    that's so cool

  • That was RAD! keep up the good work.

  • Hm... the tory is sensless but the animation is quite well done.

  • Sweet!

  • eush!!!!

    dis rockz

    nyc make mre!!!

  • Vfs is the best school in the world! yeah baby!

  • lol this was very creative! ur students are genuis

  • Now they know, where to find us, and how to destroy us.

    Gosh...

  • WOW I didn't know about the golden record... 0.o

I hope the project is successful !!

  • I didn't either! that is so cool!

  • I don't know why, but I like the animation that comes from VFS so much more than anything else.

  • You know what wud suck? The Voyagers being distroyed in space by an asteroid. Or maybe even worse. The Voyagers get to some other life form, but they destroy it, when they try to play it. The possibilities are endless. But seriously, hope the project is succesfull.

  • amazing video

  • That's really cool!

  • Yes, Voyager is real, the gold record is real.

  • That's cool

  • That was very good. Props yo your students Vancouver

  • Very, VERY good:D

  • ok so i might have the dumb comment of the day... is this based on reality?

  • yes.

  • thanks

  • Wow that was very informative, some dumbass (who also posted a video about the probes) thought those instructions were a message to aliens, apparently they didnt know that there was the golden disc with it too

  • very well done

  • wow, this short has amazing transitions.

  • yaay! this is awesome. great job. :)

  • Now that I have actually watched the video I must say it's well done. Nice story, well narrated with some fun and interesting animation.

  • Interesting vid. I thought about this kind of thing recently when watching Doctor Who... when they sent out blood into space and a group of aliens used the blood to control the human race... hehehe... I doubt anyone can use Beethoven to control us though.

  • Perhaps not with Beethoven but like it says in the video Voyager contains a map of human DNA. Some intelligent alien race could do a lot with that information. I saw that Dr. Who and I just happen to be watching Star Trek Voyager right now.

  • i loved, it was amazing and had excellent flow. This is what people should play at schools when trying to teach kids about science.Very interesting.

  • Why do people feel the need to say first comment? You were the first one, big whoop. How about actually commenting on the video instead?

  • not that I disagree with you but... why do people feel the need to grouse about people saying 'first comment'? Whoop de ding... I agree it is wasted commentary space... I agree there is very little purpose to saying 'first comment'... but I also know how exciting it is to be the very first viewer and have the chance to say 'first' ... just because by random luck they saw the video when it first came out.

  • It might be exciting for them to say, but it adds nothing and means nothing to anyone else. Saying first is fine but maybe leave a comment after that? Or are they worried they might get beat out if they took the time?

  • Where is your actual comment on the video? I liked it, it was really interesting video.

  • first comment ! =D
