This would be another beginning of Canada's depleting natural resources to the cash grabbing, soul stealing opportunists south of the 49th. We've jokingly anticipated their upward eye rolling and hand rubbing antics for years and now we're witnessing potential IV sucking pipelines and soon land scarring mineral stripping. All this and for what in return....TMZ? Has Canada given in and souled out too?
Just as Nebraskans don't like our pipeline crossing their aquifers we should stop this quarry from being built. What has happened to the Canadian conscience ?
Don't believe everything you hear. We have lived beside a quarry for over 40 years.Never a water problem, always great nieghbors. Thank you quarries for making our lives better, and safer.
One 900 acre farm can cause more problems for our water than this program. Both should be looked at but because of politics no one dare challenge the rural agricultural lobby which is also backed by global mega corporations like Cargill.
Poopaloo Thank you very much for posting this vid. I will send to all Canadians of my list! Canadian fight against it! Shout with all your might! Long live Canada! Long live the rivers and water basins of this amazing country! God bless your fight! God bless all Canada!
FUCK YOU AMERICA (USA) You have managed to destroy everything everywhere
you go & touch !!! You should be stopped at every crossing you come to. We may have a problem with immigration & deadbeat polititions slow as sloths. But thats our problem. Stay out / keep your ghettos / go destroy the many countries you have already brought down with your " A Buck is a Buck" attitudes. Do what you do best elsewhere...DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY

Where are you guys going to get your limestone from? If not this quarry then which quarry? Maybe you prefer having immigrants and your children pay more for building materials? What about the increased fossil fuel consumption required to transport rock from afar, because of your anti-development agenda? When you say no to a quarry you are denying the rights of others to achieve the standard of living you are currently enjoying. Resource hogs, that's what you are!
@bikerrunnerdude I would prioritize clean water and food over aggregate - you can't eat rocks. If we can't get better at recycling aggregates, I would imagine that the long term carbon impact of mining aggregate in an area further away that is not Class 1 prime agricultural land and the headwaters of 5 major rivers is less that the carbon impact and actual cost of importing our food from overseas forever. This will only become more true as oil prices climb and oil supply dwindles.
@AsymetricMedia and another thing, recycle aggregates? think about the energy intensity. Let''s knock down your house, so others can build shelter or a road. 5 bucks says you will change your tune when the wrecking ball shows up. and build what? another house. No net gain. Do you get it? If you have no shelter, food supply won't help as you will soon enough die from exposure. You must be one of those environmentalists that support tent cities and poverty! I am disgusted. Tents are made from oil!
@bikerrunnerdude Resource hogs? Or are we just trying to save our water? Would you rather pay a bit more or change your building materials, or not have any water to drink, or give to your children. You are very short sited in this case. Think long and hard about the consequences of messing up yet another part of the environment that would be Ontario wide, instead of what it is going to do to your measly pocket book.
I'm all for supporting the effort to stop the quarry, because it's going to sacrifice productive farmland. And I'm certainly in favour of protecting our precious water supply. But to be honest, I didn't get the connection here... the video didn't clearly explain how the quarry is going to pollute or otherwise threaten the water.
@rosedale71 Good question. When you let 600,000,000.00 litres of water a day every day drain out of rivers and natural acquifers and become polluted with the toxic effects of massive industry and heated to the point where fish which rely on cold water to reproduce can no longer breed, water and life are threatened. This volume of water needs to be re-circulated in perpetuity (10's/100's/1000's of years) - what happens when the pumps break down or the company decides to leave? Who pays for that?
How senseless. Haven't you learned YET from the recent ecological disasters as to what happens when you mess with Mother Nature? Just leave it alone the way it IS.
How can we humans be so stupid. Water is what we need to stay alive. The environment needs protection over everything else. Rich or poor, everyone dies if we don't have clean water. Money is nothing in comparison.
Growing food and having clean drinking water is much more important than an American mining companies interests. Get real people. The world is running out of fresh water and arable land.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Do you understand how quarries work? Modern quarries don't pollute water. Modern industrial water users don't pollute. They aren't allowed to. Farmers get away with murder. If you want to stop these guys go after their farms.
Thank you! This truth needs to be shouted out, so people know what they will be losing if this Quarry is allowed! I lived in Niagara for 9 years, and it would be a shame for this lovely area to be damaged!
Thank you for telling the story of the water we are trying to protect from the proposed mega quarry just 90 minutes north of Toronto. The people who work for the Baupost Group of Boston and its Canadian front-company, Highland, should watch this film and then ask themselves: Do I want to be part of this destructive legacy?
@thefarmmulmur Those people don't live where this will be happening, so they DON'T CARE !!!
My people have said, "It is a good day to die". I pray I see my day to die, soon. All the activism we all can muster will never save the world from greedy corporations.

We keep multiplying at an exponential rate. Where do we live? What will we eat and drink?
We are blind. We only care about here and now.
We don't care about our kids or theirs.
We just care about ourselves and what we might not get.
We are selfish people, all of us no matter what we say.
Our hearts have no love, not true love.
We act like we care, but as long as it doesn't happen to me who really truly cares?
Someone will fix it, won't they? What will we say to future generations?
We are all
