why? he DOES own the GNR name. slash and duff signed the GNR name to him in exchange for axl giving up his share of a big part of the band's back catalogue.

in other words axl gave up a lot of money to get the name. he tried to keep slash and duff with him but they quit. so then he kept going with dizzy and some new guys.

how does he act holier than thou? he had temper issues but then the other guys had plenty of drug issues. everybody has problems.

the fact that Axl even had a contract made that he would own the GNR name should they ever break up was a slap in the face to the other members. He also had contracts made that he could terminate whoever at whatever time for "bad behavior".

His whole control thing really pisses me off, he barely gave any credit to the other members for the band's success. Axl only cared about Axl. It really turned me off to him, and destroyed the band.

what youre repeating here is the slash version of events but unfortunately slash has lied big time. many of his lies have been exposed.

he started claiming in 2004 that he and duff were "forced" to sign this contract but the law would never have recognized axl's right to the GNR name if it was acquired through force. actually axl gave up his share of a lot of the back catalogue to slash and duff. it was a business deal but slash started playing the victim to get public sympathy.

axl got the contract made because as slash admits in his book there were serious discussions 6 times to fire axl from the band. he didnt want to get fired so he got the name and then tried to keep others on board.

slash admits that he quit in 96 and two years later axl still couldnt believe he had gone. axl called up slash's family to try to get him back. duff also quit himself.

in his press release in 2002 and interviews/ chats in 99/04/08/ 09, axl has always given credit to the original members for their great work.

axl said that he couldnt continue in a bluesy direction after slash left because there's no guitarist out there like that of slash's calibre. how is that denying credit?

he said that he was trying to exercise more control because there were too many cooks in the kitchen and it created chaos-josh todd said the EXACT thing about Velvet Revolver.
