Hello Jason! You helped me a lot on reading this drum notations. However, I found some teachers do place the snare on different locations. Some placed it on the third line from the top. Some placed it on the second space from battom, and some put it on the second space from top. I found that so confusing in such a way that if you have a sheet of music infront of you and how do you differential which one to go with. Can you please help me on that area? Thanks a lot.
@tjinga2u... Paradidles.Flams and the like are rudiments.
Practice them..they come in very handy during you "Fills".
Remember that the most important part of drummers is to keep the meter. Without it your done. That is your primary job. Keep practicing your meter.
The rest will come with over time and find a good teacher to help you if your just starting out. Good basics are your foundation & will make a big difference in you playing. Good Luck!!..Now 1&2&3&4....
@tjinga2u It's good to see you have an interest in drumming..Here's some help.
First.."Right,Left,Right,Right,Left,Right,Left,Left is a "Paradidle"
Next..Most songs are not nesscessarily played that way. 4/4 and 2/4 are certainly not. 5/4 or 6/8 or 7/4 not eigther. However you can incorporate those feels with any drum part you choose provided it works with the music you are playing.
Some compositions will let the drums play a "counter feel" to compliment the track & other instruments.
jeez guys... both jeff and cyco are wrong and right in different ways... jeff, he's not doing fine.. and cyco it's not the wrists that move too much, his whole arms move too much.. at that slow of a speed, you shouldn't even be moving your arms.. especially if you are an "expert"... but i agree jeff that drumming is about the wrists.. cyco was right to say he's not doing fine.. and jeff was right to say that drumming is about wrists.. ok.. now both of you get over it.. :-)
Actually he's not. Maybe if you were his age, you might be able to say you had experience. I've been playing drums for two years, and even I can tell that he's doing fine. I hate people that criticize others when they don't know what they're talking about. Honestly, look at any drummer. You drum mostly in the wrist, and look at ANY DCI drummer. Santa Clara is an example. ALL wrist. Get a life.
Thanks Dude...

There is alot more than I can say here. Not much room.

@peredrum Not to many guys talk about how important meter is.
You obviously know something about the basics of solid drumming.
Thanks for the pointers.

@peredrum You are correct!

@tjinga2u1 What are you talking about? That is a very misleading statement by you.
Are you a accomplished drummer,or a WANNA-BE DRUMMER?
If you are a real drummer lets see you playing on something published,or your website, because your comment is entirely wrong!

@tjinga2u1 Please don't make anymore comments like this one...
You don't know anything about drumming.
