  • It's the new Mig 29, it has vector thrusting

  • Is this aircraft a Sukhoi and not a MiG?

I did not think the MiG could do that end over end thing.

  • It's a MiG-29. I was there.

  • Without making it bigger, heavier and putting larger engines on it ???

  • Despite the "F" designation given to the F-22 it was designed as a night bomber w/fighter capabilities. So it's really silly to compare the Mig-29 to it. The F-22 was to replace the f-117 despite other talks. Reason for that is the poor handling characteristics of the F117.

  • No, I think you need to check your facts before you post bullshit comments. The F-22 was chosen over the YF-23 in the ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighter) program, which purpose was to design an A2A combat aircraft to dominate any potential russian aircraft for several decades. But since the USSR fell, they had to add bombing capabilities to it to prevent it from getting axed from the budget. The F-22 is replacing F-15Cs.

  • And how do you exactly "add" bombing characteristics without changing the original plans??? And getting the budget "axed"

  • F-22 is too heavy, big and aerodynamically unstable to compete with the Mig, and for those with questions or comments towards thrust vectoring and such, the Mig has 360 degree motion in the vectors while the F22 can only direct its trust longitudinally (up/down). So for those who think they know about thrust vectoring, please check your facts and don't post bullshit comments.

  • NICE! I think the F-22 is king of fighters now, however.

  • The F22 is overly complex and the king of BVR combat.

If for whatever reason it got into a dogfight, it would not be maneuverable enough to go toe-to-toe with a Mig 29.

The majority of US pilots aren't actually trained how to dogfight properly anymore but the Russians are pushing it.

  • Actually pilots are trained to dogfight. Especially as peace time rules of engagement don't allow for BVR engagements. The F-22 could go against a MiG-29 OVT, but the the OVT has a 3D TVS, the F-22 just a 2D TVS. Despite the size, depending on combat load, the F-22 has a better thrust to weight ratio than the MiG as well. When doing a snap turn using the TVS, this could prove fatal for the MiG as the F-22 would have a much higher amount of force pulling that snap in a less amount of time.

  • impresive

  • all hail king of all planes! if the russians do not make a better one (surly they will)

  • wicked awesome Frolov Chakra.
