I mean she blames it all on a dream she had which was solely based on a pretty boy and a plain girl standing in a meadow somewhere looking rather brooding. That's hardly a plot and she's hardly good at writing much other than purple prose. I think she just tried to make the story generic so it was easy for the reader to replace Bella with themselves.

I think that without the following it has, nobody would have cared about it and it would be dead by now but Meyer knew how to hook the average girl. The werewolf vs vampire thing isn't the only thing not original. The whole vampire falls for a human thing too. And the part where Edward can't have sex with Bella because if they do Bella might turn into a monster or some shit like that(correct me if I'm wrong) Meyer took that from Buffy and Angel. Angel can't have sex with Buffy because if he does he might have a "Moment of true happiness" and becomes Angelus again.

@Zander10100 That is so true! I think Meyer just borrowed bits and pieces from different books to try and pull together a cohesive plot. I mean she blames it all on a dream she had which was solely based on a pretty boy and a plain girl standing in a meadow somewhere looking rather brooding. That's hardly a plot and she's hardly good at writing much other than purple prose. I think she just tried to make the story generic so it was easy for the reader to replace Bella with themselves.

@MangekyouKitten My dad gets scared when he hears about raging teen girl fads like Twilight, he gets scared that I'm into them too and I'll bring home some creepy looking lad with an anger problem XD Or atleast thats what he thought with Twilight.
