I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5560G-SB485 laptop from Newegg.com for US$500 (the price has since gone up to US$650, and the MSRP is US$730). It has an AMD A8 (3500M) CPU, a separate (AMD Radeon) graphics card with 1GB dedicated video RAM, 4GB RAM (which I'll probably expand to 8GB in a few months), and a 500GB HD. From other user comments I've seen, it sounds like it should do well at gaming also (but probably not as well as the Dell XPS reviewed here, w/more video RAM and 2.6GHz speed).
@gmodertom I think it depends what you want to do. If you want to use the laptop for designing or coding (thats what I do) then yeh its a great option being able to fit lots on. If your just doing gaming and normal web browsing word docs etc then its not so needed but yeh it is a nice upgrade to have especially with the blu-ray player. Just a word of warning the text becomes very small and people have complained about this. It doesn't bother me personally too much but just keep it in mind :)

You do all these reviews of computer stuff but do you play any games?

@zammystavez I do! Minecraft, BF3 and MW3 are the main ones I'm playing at the moment. You can find me on Steam as "CloudBite"
