This track probably had a greater impact on me than any other first level track in any other game. When I first heard this, I knew I was in for a hell of a ride.
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great game series such as Donkey Kong Country. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
Remember the first time you played this epic game, you were a kid just playing some games in the weekend with no worries, just having loads of fun sitting on the floor holding the snes controller, it's that kind of atmosphere we will never have again...
its annoying how people base whether they like the game by the graphics i don't give a SHIT about the graphics as long as the gameplay's good its alright with me.
Rare soundtracks have always been the best. It's unfortunate that their main composers left the company a few years ago, but they still made fantastic contributions to titles like Perfect Dark Zero and Viva Pinata before they left.
The main thing newer games dont have is music like the old games. Catchy tunes you notice yourself singing when your not playing them. I cant name one new game where I do this, only the older stuff.
Good old times back in the mid 90's and I remember DKC1 was the first one I played, but the sad part is that DKCR is nothing like the SNES DKC series. I mean is not the same person that did DKC series for for Snes and I mean the music is alright in DKCR for the WII. It could've been better and I wish they brought Wise and Fischer for DKCR.
DKCR is pretty fucking awesome, despite not having Kremlins. It's also pretty hard and unforgiving, which I am very glad of. It even has pretty much all the same music remixed tastefully. It's AWESOME >:O
I watched someone stream the new DK yesterday and I have to admit, I really liked the music in it. I only wish I had Wii so I could get the game myself.
I remember the thrill of hearing this on the first level of the game and swinging from vine trying to collect the "KONG" letters. And being excited as hell when I found the rhino and ran over every living enemy over with it :)
I never heard this much of the song, because I beat the level faster than the song loops. Anyway, the DKC games are amazing and hold a high nostalgic value for me. DKC2 is one of the best games, in my opinion, of all time. And David Wise is a FUCKING GOD. It saddens me to know that this generation of kids won't be playing DKC1-3, because they are such masterpieces. Long live DKC, hopefully DKCR is kick ass!
@Rathalos887 It's not that they cannot play it, it's that they REFUSE to play it. Their parents probably have a SNES and these games. But being the kids they are they are like "OMG look at these awful graphics! You played this!? I'm just gonna my GOOD games like Halo and Call of Duty!"
But I presonally think it's our duty, as old school gamers, to inculcate the younger generation to the pieces of art from the past. I try on my part to show my own nephew these games. He's only 6 yo, but he already comes at my home and says: "I wanna play the snail game!" (talking about Adventure Island, which he can't get pass the 1st level XD). I guess when he'll be older, he'll look back at these moments and miss those days, like we all did...
@pelletier1986 peace man, what your doing is great. I find that if you give a kid a fond memory of an old game, they will return to it in later life, and realise that old games rock loads. I mean i first played mario 64 back in 2000 when i was 5, that got me into nintendo, which in turn (due to their extensive history) got me into retro gaming, and now i can appreciate a game reguardless of it age :D so keep it up!
@sora8711 It really depends on if you want to base a majority onto a minority, i mean i dont know which age group you mean when you refer to the said group as "kids" but there are young adults out there who love old games. Im only 15, but i can appreciatea game if it came out yesterday on the ps3, or in 1983 on the zx spectrum, personly im underwhelmed by the shooter genre as a whole, with the biggest exection being timesplitters 2.
@sora8711 I disagree, plenty of kids would play these games if offered, and besides it's not like a lot of modern games aren't better than old ones. Heck, gameplay wise Donky Kong Country was fairly lacking, ironically it's main pro is the beautiful graphics. And ya know, the music.
@sora8711 I'm 17 and glad I grew up with an NES. It really teaches appreciation for the old stuff. I think I'll have my kids only play on old consoles until they're like 7-10 years old.
@sora8711 It is pretty much that, you are spot on. I also think that there is this idea for younger kids that they are being more "adult" if they play games aimed at older teens and adults.
"Ugh, you young'uns today and you're damn computer games with suppppppppeeeeerrrr detailed graphics and your damn complaining that games like this are crappy because the graphics aren't as good... back in my day... these games were classic and you would just feel privileged to have them... *sigh* you youth today have no appreciation for games that paved the way..." *grumble grumble*
@sora8711 Uhh what. If their parents got the system when they were say, 16 (being generous here) and had the kid at 21, he'd only be 12. This is with the most favorable statistics; most would be younger. What 12 year old plays CoD?
Another theme that amazes me, in its awesomeness and in the fact that it's taken this long to come up. As someone commented on your last video, it's amazing that after 800 videos there are still this many great tunes left to be honored.
I got a strategic marketing plan, a research essay and finals. I'm gonna wait for Christmas. At least I'll stay in the tradition I've had for a long time. I remember getting DKC1 and 3 used for the Christmas of 2003 when I was 13. This entire series was a repeat rental during toddlerhood and being a kid.
wow the day it was released. I decided to play Donkey Country 2 this morning/early afternoon. and i get a lot farther (actually the farthest i have ever been the over 10/12 years i've (technically my mom and dad got it. but its now its in my care) owned this game. and man it's also the day you post this. Today is defenitley a day for donkey Kong. and so is every other day.
My mother actually used to play this with me back in the day. When she died she would start cursing. It was funny as hell then and when I get her to play these days it still is. :') Memories.
Gotta love this theme, it's another classic from this franchise's amazing soundtracks.
DKCR is another game I really wanto to play, but it'll have to wait a bit for now. I'll probably buy it this Christmas. I wish they had hired Wise or Fischer for the music, hopefully Kenji Yamamoto did a good job with it.
@METALGEARSOL1D I think Wise's music is better, overall, than Fischer's, but I do think that Fischer improved a huge amount from DKC1 to DKC3. A lot of her music in DKC3 is really impressive.
@SupraDarky It's a really fun game, definitely worth your time. Sadly, the game only features remixed music from DKC, music from DKC2 doesn't show up at all.
