I'm still alive don't worry... Although I don't split between trucks (too easy to get caught under). Sorry to hear about your brother. It's not as dangerous as frustrated queuing car drivers would like too believe.. Never had any incidents doing this. Have had 3 cars run up my tail sitting at lights. I'll ride in a way that preserves my life and doesn't inconvenience other motorists (which it his has no impact on other motorists).
@mrfordfairmont There is no explicit rule against lane splitting. When people are booked for lane splitting it is normally at police discretion and because of something else like failing to indicate. They tried to make it explicitly illegal in 2006 but failed to do so and it is explicitly legal in many other countries such as the UK. Lastly it is not dangerous if cars are stationary or slow moving, in fact it's safer for the motorcyclist so that they don't get squashed and helps traffic flow.
@Damian2257 there is rules about it and the most dangerous when vechiles and stationary and slow moving.. most accidents are in peak hour traffic and the reason the police don't do anything because they are not on bikes and they have been cracking down on bikes lately
@mrfordfairmont Please quote me the explicit road rule that says it is illegal to lane split. There isn't one. I have done a lot of research on this as a bike rider. And it isn't most dangerous when it's stationary and slow moving. Please do more research on this topic before you advise others. One place for you to start is the Oxford Systematics report from Vic Roads found no incidences of accidents due to lane splitting.

No evidence huh? Well maybe you can tell my DEAD BROTHER THAT!
Died doing same thing and was squashed between 2 semi trailers at traffic lights at Hawthorne in Brisbane.

what a idiot... you are asking to be knocked off your bike with that driving

Sitting in traffic waiting to be rear ended is a less attractive option...

@mrfordfairmont Are you serious? He was lane splitting at a pretty slow and safe speed, there is nothing dangerous about it.
