That has got to be the worst professional animation that I have ever seen. It reminds me of flash animation. Bad flash animation. Each Voltron revival since the 90s has been worse than the next. Shame this couldn't have gone to Cartoon Network. They worked a miracle with the Thundercats.

I actually enjoy Voltron Force. While it'll never match up to the original (it's a classic) this new show is leagues better the CG version that came out in the late 90's. I also noticed something else watching Voltron Force and I'm surprised to admit it. Prince Lotor is just not an interesting villain on his own without King Zarkon leading him. I actually find Sky Marshal Wade to be the better & more interesting villain in this new series.
Oh wow that looks bad. Coloring was terrible, art direction was terrible, movement was terrible. I say this both as someone that watched Voltron as a small child in the 80's as well as a student of animation. If my fellow classmates and I had made that, it would be passable as student work, but it's truly terrible for a professional studio. I know the original series had basically no story, iffy animation at times, etc, but you have 30 years of advancements in technology, and art in between.
At first I was excited when I heard there was a new Voltron series. The I saw this mess. Is it better than the old show? Sure, but so is just about anything made after the 80s. I just didn't want to see a bunch of 90s teenage kool doodz stereotype crap in 2011. Guess I shouldn't expect too much from Voltron.
I just do not like this animation. The quality seems a bit lack luster. The 3d animation does not seem too bad, i have seen worse. I am sure the story is fine. But then again, i really did not like voltron that much to begin with.
Okay the art style looks like ass, but the 2008 transformers animated series did too and the story/characters saved it. The new characters seem very 'typical 90s teen hero' stereotypes, so hopefully they break out of that quick. I'll give it 5 episodes to see if they can succeed at not messing up the story as bad as the art.
What is with the art designs in this show? Okay, the CG is a step up from the Stealth Voltron show, but the color choices seem very......90s.......like an episode of captain planet or Denver the last Dinosaur. The CG animation should not mix entirely with the 2D animation (as is it's nature), but when you have blocky character designs and such curved CGI models just comes off as clashing. If it is deliberate to show scale for the giant robots, then it kinda falls short on that goal... by a mile
Okay if they are going to BUTCHER my childhood they should at LEAST do better artwork. Old art was good (even if the dialog was bad) this one just makes my skin crawl.

Something about the animation...doesn't look right to me. Not complaining about it deviating from the original (the updates I actually like). There's just something to most of the show's animation that looks bad to me. The lions and Voltron himself look great, but the humans and pretty much everything else just looks bad (under-detailed I guess). Oh well, I've got the new Thundercats, and TFP to occupy my time. Though I might get a Voltron toy or two, lol.
Saw of clip of this show and hate it already. Some cadet spouting off lame one liners? Already too kiddie for me. Voltron was more of grown up show. It dealt with some real grim stuff. The Japanese version was scaled down because it was too violent. I mean, they killed Sven in Japan!
There's some cool things here, but overal, the tone is all wrong. Just because it's a team of 5 people in diff colors doesn't mean it's Power Rangers. Voltron needs a serious edge to it, and that isn't here.
@raith0818 its only for two episodes. to introduce the kid into the series. The rest of the show focuses on each character and there is a new formation about every week. you can't judge the show just by viewing one clip.

Tried watching an episode on Nicktoon online... killed it in 10 minutes. The voice acting and dialog, even compared to the cheesy original 80s stuff... is sooooo bad. It's as bad as the previous reboot in 3D CG was... *sigh*
This series looks to suffer from the same thing the original US Voltron series suffered from...continuity problems!!! Allura all of a sudden has a niece when she had no siblings among one of the big problems. After finally having seen the complete "Go Lion" Japanese series, the plot holes left from the "series" US producers pieced together made SO much more sense. Too bad this "Voltron Force" group of producers failed to learn anything.
@dh1031 Thing is, if you read Wikipedia, the guys that made "Voltron" had used the clips from the Japanese shows, but didn't translate the dialog/plots. They wrote new dialog based loosely on what they surmised was going on, and additionally edited whatever they felt couldn't be shown on American TV.
Not sure about this Voltron series. A defective Voltron, new random characters that act as pointless plot devices leading to the super robot's self destruction, and an opening theme that sounds like it came from the Robot Chicken parody where Voltron breakdances.
At least Voltron: The Third Dimension tops this new series by a huge leap.

@ShuHibiki You know what, i tried to get my nephews interested in the old gi joe cartoons. they thought they were crappy and boring. I don't see anything wrong with the animation in voltron. Some of it looks computer generated. The kids love it, and that's what counts. the new gi joe isn't that horrible either.

@Zindkeeper Thats because most westerners still regard cartoons as "childrens shows" .. whereas Japan actually recognises animation as a mainstream media. This means that most of the time westerners half ass their cartoons and the japanese dont. So yes .. I am much more excited for an anime than I would be over a western production.

They all ameri-suits care only about selling the freaking show regardless of the quality of it, since they still can't understand that cartoons ain't a kids only thing. In Japan animation quality comes first for the japa-suits. I mean... the awesome art and animation of Japan's toons is what attracted audiences in the first place to the freaking show bozo.

@Zindkeeper It's a sad truth, isn't it? there have been equally as many great western animations. I don't mind this animation style, but the need of CGI with hand drawn animation is, in my opinion, not needed and usually looks really out of place/tacky.
Also, why does everything now a days need to be piloted by children.

Tried watching an episode on Nicktoon online... killed it in 10 minutes. The voice acting and dialog, even compared to the cheesy original 80s stuff... is sooooo bad. It's as bad as the previous reboot in 3D CG was... *sigh*

This series looks to suffer from the same thing the original US Voltron series suffered from...continuity problems!!! Allura all of a sudden has a niece when she had no siblings among one of the big problems. After finally having seen the complete "Go Lion" Japanese series, the plot holes left from the "series" US producers pieced together made SO much more sense. Too bad this "Voltron Force" group of producers failed to learn anything.

@dh1031 Thing is, if you read Wikipedia, the guys that made "Voltron" had used the clips from the Japanese shows, but didn't translate the dialog/plots. They wrote new dialog based loosely on what they surmised was going on, and additionally edited whatever they felt couldn't be shown on American TV.

Not sure about this Voltron series. A defective Voltron, new random characters that act as pointless plot devices leading to the super robot's self destruction, and an opening theme that sounds like it came from the Robot Chicken parody where Voltron breakdances.
At least Voltron: The Third Dimension tops this new series by a huge leap.

Would you people shut your yaps? Just because it's not catering to your weeaboo ways doesn't meant it's bad. Have you bothered watching the show at all? It's actually not that bad. It's a fairly loyal adaptation. All it did was make a sequel to the original story and tack on new characters. So far, it's doing a pretty good job living up to the name of Voltron. Not unlike that previous CG debacle from years ago.

You know, most of you morons watched the edited dubbed version of Voltron, something the West brought here so you could all enjoy it when you were brats.
