The rolling stops are kind of harmless though, provided there isn't other traffic involved. My favorite is the ones who queue up behind you at a stop sign, and the first or second behind you blow through the sign after you proceed. The answer is more law enforcement and education. Maybe change liability laws. I think a no brainer would be outlawing the automatic tranny

Bad driving aside - it sure seems to me that this intersection has the wrong priorities. Most of the vehicles seem to be going straight across so why not change the priority and have the stop signs on the approaching road since they have to stop to turn left or right - think of the fuel savings and time that would create by not having to artificially stop most vehicles. - just a thought, since I don't know the intersection.

Apparently even the Police in Terrace don't have to stop... I live in Westbank and it's just as bad here. Try riding your bike in this town (Terrace, BC)....two cyclists hit in one week, and we have less that 20 000 population. The people on my street all have pet cemeteries in their yards to because apparently pets are negotiable against speeding, cel phones, coffees, racing to the ATV site, etc etc etc.....I am surprised that no kids have been killed since drivers hit about 120 kmh when on school bus routes.

Totally understand what youre tryin to say with this video. Exact same probs here in Rupert. In 2 days driving to work on the same road I was nearly hit by 5 different people who decided to run the stop signs at 2 different intersections. One lady was about half a foot from hitting my car. I made her open the back passenger door so she could see she would have hit exactly where my son was sitting. People should think twice about their bad driving habits.

I was just outside for a smoke 5 min ago listening to the 3rd person this week fly down Eby doing about 80 mph. I phoned the police and went back outside to the corner thinking, he/she might drive back this way? I get to the corner and look down the street to see him recked on the sidewalk. this is normal. Hell I'm still working on my drivers license, and people hunk at me when I come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Course on occasion I've seen people cross 4 lanes of traffic turning left at a busy intersection. Once snow sets in, 80% of the BC drivers can't drive. Rainy weather 60% can't drive, optimal weather I'd say 35% can't drive.

I am more shocked people don't seem to even care about this problem that kills and injures 10 of thousands everyday! People have no idea how dangerous driving really is. If you hit a kid that darts out at 70-80 kph, it is a good chance that will be fatal. And for what? So some idiot can have his temp. kick? or you save 1 min off your 10 min drive across town? Many people drive at 70-80 kph in residential areas here, even in school zones. Not enough police is only a small part of the problem.

Part of the issue is the current sentencing involving vehicles are terrible. Charged with driving in the HoV lane that kills 2 kids and injures 2 other people, no vehicular manslaughter.

Personally I think any accident where you are more then 50% at fault that results in a death is vehicular manslaughter. Driving under the influence results in suspension of license of 5 years and seizure of your vehicles.

That looks very good to me....but i'm in Phoenix, AZ, which has hands down the worst traffic and drivers in North America....seriously...it's terrifying to drive here. And I notice that almost all of the cars in this video are using their turn signals....that was refreshing to see, even if they don't know how to stop.....still, people think they won't crash or get killed and drive like cars are toys or something. Video Stop just before the intersection at the coffee shop. One day I almost got hit 5 diff times at diff sidewalks in terrace. Sometimes I have to stand at cross walks and wait for 2 mins or longer to cross because 3 to 5 cars pass by me or one side stops and I start to cross but as I get just before the double yellow line a car whizzes by me - only a foot away from being road kill. Then I raise my hands in anger or my fav middle finger at them.

Almost every time I go to the Bear Country and watch the crosswalk there, someone almost gets hit. My brother saw one lady get smoked there by a young kid trying to beat the traffic turning north. Watch yourself on that one, it is only a matter of time before someone gets killed there.

While i dont know the rules of the road in Canada the snow and ice driving reminded me of last december here. After having slipped on ice I was heading home and while walking up hill I saw a car halfway up the same hill trying to floor it on the ice and going nowhere (well except spinning on an axis)

One time there was a van that stop in the middle of the intersection ( the driver thought it was a green light for him )...when the light turned green he backed up to the line then went across the street...

Stopping a little past the sign is not bad. Sometimes there is no visibility, so moving a bit forward to get better vision shouldn't be considered that bad.

I do agree that many people don't respect signs, or don't respect you at all. Specially when your car is smaller than the other person's car (as if everyone could affor a SUV). I was planning on installing a camera on my car to tape drivers, and perhaps the authorities would stop getting money from parkimetres.

I don't mind if they creep up past the stop sign to see. This intersection has good visibility both ways, you don't need to go past the signs. Most people will often stop 1/2 or a full car length past the signs (if they stop at all)

While there were certainly some idiot drivers going through that intersection, for the most part, the drivers were just navigating through a REALLY STUPID INTERSECTION. How about lets change how that corner is set up. Poor drivers always put the blame on the road or car. It is NOT the intersection that is to blame. The 2 drivers stopping are also not a big deal. I only included that because often the locals behind them are not paying attention when people stop suddenly. I have seen many close call rear-enders. Just park there for 20 min and see how many drivers go past with a cell phone, drink, burger or something else in hand (or sometimes even both hands) Yah, blame the intersection for that too!

Great work, this is an excellent example of how many people shouldn't have ever been issued a license at all. A stop sign is one of the mose fundamental rules of driving, if you can't obey that then you're putting everyone at risk and I for one don't appreciate it.
