Because a photographers job is to assemble and direct a creative team. That is their job, not just 'taking a picture'. Same with conductors and orchestras. Same thing really. dennisonbertram(.)com
conductors generally don't play in the orchestra. I have watched her working and it seems pretty easy to me. She'll say "I want a Hollywood movie set, build and light it for me and then fill it with actors acting up and get the assistants to prepare the cameras and load them up with film (she uses film) and I will swan in and say, move that light 1/8th of a millimetre, perfect", click.
because a photographer needs a team, she can not finish all the work that you mentioned by herself. and above all the detail work, great photographers need to have great ideas and views through lens, which is key to make a successful and stunning photo. It is believed that Annie Leibovitz got both. hey, u think the Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone and all the big icons are stupid enough to let a woman who could do nothing to shoot photos for them?
No I don't think Vanity Fair are stupid, they have got a world famous photographer working for them and to her credit she seems to have made some iconic pictures but they only seem iconic because Vanity Fair keep telling us they are. I went to her exhibition and the pictures seemed to owe more to Photoshop retouching than essential photography. I think she will be found out one day.
i wish that was from movie...

I can't really see what Leibovitz does, I see a lot of people working on lighting, hair, make up, set design, why does Leibovitz get the credit?
