  • Putting liners in pipes are now proven to be a bad mistake the fiber glass deteriorates plumber will be back in a couple years on this project

  • @TheChillywill420 Thanks for the warning! Any facts, reports or videos to support this problem?

  • No shoring?!! That's a dead man chasing roots...what will you tell his family?

  • @bracr I was also concerned about the lack of shoring. The plumber insisted that the tree roots bound the soil to make it safe.

  • @genesisPlumbing You can see more of this expensive project in our latest video!

  • hydro jet the line and shoot a liner!!

  • @genesisPlumbing Thanks. That's exactly what we did after digging another big hole in the middle of the street! Very costly.

  • dude thats way to much work sell them a new sewer

  • Good maintenance should avoid the cost of having to replace a sewer pipe. This case was not well maintained and the choice was to replace the pipe through the hole you see being dug, or to tear up the entire street.

  • Interesting analogy... What people do for a living, even here in "America"!!!

  • What are the potential dangers of cleaning a sewer?

  • @ariadarabi shit on ur hands

  • Danger no shoring Ahead

  • Yes, this was dangerous! I asked the plumber about the lack of shoring and he stated that there was no space available for shoring and that the large palm tree roots would retain the soil?

  • Wiki drain cleaners include: Caustic liquid Liquid caustic solutions containing sodium hypochlorite NaClO(bleach), sodium hydroxide (lye), or potassium hydroxide. Caustic solid Solid granules of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Enzymatic cleaners Liquid solutions containing bacteria cultures and enzymes that eat away the organic material. Vinegar & Baking Soda Pouring baking soda followed by vinegar down a drain. Acid liquid Liquid solutions containing sulfuric acid.
  • Great idea!

  • Thanks, Bonnie. Most people can avoid this type of dig by annual sewer pipe cleaning with licensed professional plumbers. In this case the dig was necessary and the Weed Twister was a great help to penetrate into the pipe to a depth that permitted the use of other tools, such as the hydro-jet, etc.

  • We have been using temporary fixes for some time, which only allowed the roots to penetrate deeper into the pipes every year. Nowadays you can get a free camera inspection of your sewer lines. Do this before and after your "amazing $20 sewer repair."

  • From what you say, it sounds impressive. Even more impressive would be a camera inspection by a professional. It's free in most places today. Wish I had inspected my drains years ago. We had large tree roots all the way through the main 6-inch pipe extending to the public sewer "Y" hookup, a length of about 15 feet and 10-12 feet deep underground. A solution like you describe may possibly have worked in my situation about 20-30 years ago.

  • Interesting. What's your advice to others concerning a free camera inspection by a licensed professional?

  • Comment removed

  • I agree that it's very important to make sure it's really free before requesting a video camera inspection. I suggest that any offer from a plumber to do an expensive cleanout should be cross-checked with a bid from another plumber (also free). Some consumers may also be leery of people selling $20 ebooks on eBay about cleaning drains with no guarantee?

  • You may think your $20 solution is really working, but without a video inspection you really don't know. You may find out 3-5 years later that your solution has created a monster in you sewer lines. My advice: get a free video inspection before and/or after any other cheepo solutions.

  • Hopefully this dialog is helpful to consumers. None of us home owners want to pay $5-10-15-20K on replacing or relining sewer pipes with epoxy. More info on chemical solutions can be researched by keywords "The seven major hazards in drain and sewer cleaning" and "wiki drain cleaners". Eyes down!

  • Hmmm... You know what the compound is, but you don't volunteer to disclose its contents. I think most viewers would question your motive for this dialog?

  • Methinks most people would question your devotion to promoting and protecting the interests of this book's publisher. If you have a questionable sewer problem, beware of cheepo solutions! Especially those from unlicensed providers who offer no guarantee. I paid a lot of bucks for my fix, but I have a 20 year guarantee from a licensed plumber in writing. The Weed Twister, which I make and sell, just happened to be helpful in one part of this extensive sewer dig project.
