My zombie plan is to lay low, and stick to quiet firearms and melee, a fire axe, maybe. Shotguns have stopping power, but they are louder than a lot of other, better options. Ammo is scarce unless you are currently holed up in a military installation, and it's rare for someone to pick up a pistol and just be EXTREMELY accurate with it. It takes practice. Anyway, I would try and find a place with lots of water and food, and maybe a gun or two in case the zombies break through.
