This song = christmas for me, I'm not an overly religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but this song brings back solid, clear, defined memories of my living room lit only with the christmas tree. I remember each light like a single, bright star, beautiful. I remember the smell of the pine, and the sense of home.

Overall, however, there is a pervading feeling of safety and home.

This was my favorite Christmas song when I was little. I would turn on the lights to the Christmas tree, turn off the other lights, and listen to it. When it was time to go to bed, I'd always ask my mom to sing it. I love this version, so much! But we only have it on tape and I haven't heard it for a long time. Thanks for posting!

My mom bought this album in the 70's. From then on, it has always been a part of our Christmas celebration. And since we're not all together anymore; living in 3 different countries, we can only reminisce the old times through Belafonte's, Ray Connif's and Elvis's old Christmas albums. I miss my family! I just heard this song for the first time on my alarm. When my alarm first rang it was exactly at the start of this song. I had worked until late Christmas eve and so I went back to bed and reset the alarm. When it rang again it was again at the very beginning of this song. It is the most beautiful Christmas song I have ever heard and I found the Christmas spirit for the first time in years.

My mother would always have this playing when she woke us up Christmas morning, every year. And my grandfather did the same for her and my aunts when they were children, or for me and my brother and cousins if we spent Christmas with my grandparents. Even though I'm an agnostic, this song still means a lot to me, every time I hear it, be it at the mall or on the radio I have to stop whatever I'm doing and listen to the entire thing.
