  • That more gainy tone with reverb is beautiful.

  • Just got a JS32R. I love this axe! It is made for the Satch. Awesome job BTW.

  • Not one of your strongest Rick, (maybe the lack of original sound and punch?)....but still very, very nice...:-) I heard better stuff coming from your hands hahahahahahahaha.....MUCHO better stuff man...you rule!!! Me being big fan of you...:-)

  • @starlinginspector why arn't you using your JS1200 I've seen in your other videos?

    Great btw.

  • How did you do that shit at 1:58

  • I had to subscribe! your tone is amazing! please share some of your settings!

  • This is my favorite rendition of this piece (Satriani performances included). The subtle touches (like 0:24) and perfect use of the right dynamics at the right turn this from a great piece into an absolute masterpiece.

My only peaves with this is that it doesn't feature the full intro and the first tone's reverb (i think) doesn't "fit in" with the others.

  • Satrian rocks! Of course this is obvious! However, the first 10 to 15 seconds of this track I was like "yea, good imitation but not Satriani. After 30 seconds I was like WOW! this guy is good. I wish I could even come close to what you picked. Nice job! Think I might look into buying some proformance from you soon, like real soon! Actually my babe already did. SWEET!

  • Rediculous feel :O

  • Wow, you've lost a lot of weight since i was one of your videos last!

Nice work, now, give me your guitar.

  • Your vibrato is pretty sick

  • A+++ Love your vids!

  • Dude your control is unbelievable. If I could snag one aspect of the many I like in your playing, it'd be that discusting control of the shape and tone of each note. Fuckin' Stellar playing dude, mad props.

  • Very well played.

  • Satriani's perfect songs ... Nice cover play, than very cool imp. also good tone bright and dynamic.

  • I also got the feelin like others you got influences by early Satch works as i know his tone really n playing got some damn emotions to music ,Am i right? yeah which is diffrent when hearin Vai or Yngwie or some Old Trash bands well ,sometimes also the lyrics to songs matters ,its all concept seriously well i grew up hearing CCR, Led Zep & etc i bet you love those memories as those old days cant be forgotten for sure ,rock on

  • Man all the way form New Zealand here. I'm a huge Satch fan and this is my favorite song by him and you do it perfect justice man absolutely incredible tones :)

  • man you play that uneven rhythms so naturally and round.

i bet you'd build something beatyfull on 17/19 rhytms :D

    great work

  • Beautiful tone and playing Rick, intonation is just perfect! And your stuff ain't so bad mate, your writing is the dogs tits man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude yer fkn Awesome .... 1 of me fav tunes.

  • cool!

  • How can you press the thumb down? :o Epic cover.

  • Great song and great cover but we want to see ya playing some Jason Becker like on that vid when you were 19 :) cheers

  • what an awesome tone Rick...

can u tell me what amp or pedal are u using? :D

  • dont you play with Tom Qualye?? ( i dont think i spelled the last name correctly.) loved the playing and the guitar!

  • Nice tone, but like at 1:18 seemed you wanted more sustain and just couldn't get it. Other than that I loved the tone!

  • were you using the shiba in this one??

  • No, no shiba here.

  • i was never into joe satriani that much, but this is incredible. i watch this vid often:)

  • Beautiful nice man!

  • that was hot man!! hammer ons and pull offs are real smoothe, nice pic control, nice job on the ending also. great job man. that backing track is cheesie though!!

  • Yeah not the best BT but I really enjoyed playing.

  • "I would kill to be able to write a middle section as good as this one."

What are you talking about Rick?

Your composition exceeds, in so many levels, Satriani's musicality. In fact Graham's melodiousness is beyond extraordinary :)

  • Tone sounds terrific during middle sextion. Little thin during beginning. You da Man Rick!

  • Great playing! I really like your vibrato!

  • fucking brilliant mate

  • This is one of my favorite satch songs!

    Beautifull job!

  • Thank you my brother!

  • Dude, this is awesome!

    Very good cover :)

  • Shit fuck, man :o really nice tone, and fucking nice skill, 1:53 - 1:57 oah! :o

    do u have tabz?

  • This is one of my favorite compositions by Joe Satriani. Thanks, nice performance.

  • That is an amazing tone you've got there. Sounds very similar to Sfogli's. It's a beautiful tone and it suits your playing perfectly. One question, do you use any overdrives or distortion pedals?

  • really nice playing and tone.

    good song choice too.

man that guitar is killer, and the playing is even better.

    what amp is this?

  • Awesome playing Rick...Tone is a bit thin for me though. The Suhr is equally awesome.

  • Mysterious Satriani again ... Nice cover w/o tremolo Congratz.

  • Best ive heard so far on here!

    Great playing man!

  • great phrasing .D

  • nice style with the yankees hat bro!!!!! haha

  • hey when are you going to cover Altitudes from Jason Becker? :p

  • Not in my lifetime ;-)

  • whaaat? why? :(. I bet you would own that song!

  • Well, I listened to perpetual burn pretty much non stop from around '93-'94 and I have never felt the need to want to play it. Probably cos it's too hard for me ;-)

  • Too hard for YOU??? LOL!!!! and why didn't you never felt the need to even want to play it? It's such an awesome song and the vibrato in it is amazing! Every time i listen to it , i pick up my guitar and pretend it's me playing x(

  • I did learn some stuff from that album but mainly just sections of it. It's just one of those albums I'd rather listen to without knowing how to play any of it. Hope that makes some sense!

  • @psychopathtoine Man I still do that, especially to Nuno's solos

  • YEP YEP YEP

  • You're such an amazing player man!!

I could listen to you all day.

EVERYTHING you play has so much style and taste.........love it man.

  • One of my fav Satch tracks too. Absolutely flawless. You should have let the improv at the end run on, it was great.

  • You kick ass, and I love your playing, but too fucking many overtones here bro.

  • the second tone was really awesome as was the whole track as usual.

  • effortless style....as always

  • good!

  • Amp, mate ? Love this track, and your second tone :)

  • very very nice, friend.

  • Great job! I want to learn this one. :)

  • Amazing, Rick!

  • I especially like how, with the milder tone, the acoustic sound of the guitar is still nicely hearable. Brilliant job on the song!

  • These tones sound great man.

  • Beautiful man just really beautiful playing.

  • Amazing playing technique. It's so nice just to lean back and listen, knowing there's no way to get there anyway ;) Really enjoyed the vid, thanks :)

  • what are you using to get these tones? they sound amazing. satch's tone has always been just out of reach for me

  • Such great playing... I'd kill for that tone, I'm so sick of my disgusting chainsaw tone... If only I had the money for better gear... 5 stars, subscribed! :)

  • Great! I'd use less treble tho!!

  • It is just perfect. Nice work Rick. I vote maximum fot this. This song is from my favourite. I wanna play it too.

  • 5/5.

  • Your hands are like water my man....serious fluidity

  • Love your vibrato Rick. Very tasteful.

  • EXCELLENT VERSION!! no further comment! 5***** congrats greetings and respect from Bram D., Holland

  • 5 star would not be enough, me like the tone and everything, skills are very great, what guitar model is that u are using, and wat type of gadget did u use and amp to. 10 star for you. cheers

  • Phenomenal.

  • I love this song, I think it's one of the greatest Satch's tunes, and you, my friend, just nailed it!

You played it so flawlessly it gave the goosebumps. Great great job! Cheers!

  • Hi Rick,

Sound really engaging, your arpeggio on guitar Suhr...is fantastic.....

  • ooops...tone I mean...

  • Awesome as always Rick....but I think you're tome needs to be a bit more "wet"

  • nice too see you also made a version of this one..:)

    cheers,,

  • Great as always...

  • great playing but yankees suck

  • Hey Rick, great choice dude, love this tune. As always class.

  • That was insane Rick! freaking tasty tone man, love it. :-)

  • Very nice - can't fault the playing and ok, perhaps a slightly thicker tone would work better but it's still an excellent cover of one of my favourite Satch tunes :D

  • Great job! Awesome, like usual!!

  • Yeah man, that's a very cool tone, very approached to satch's sound.

PD: I'm wearing the same cap in this moment lol

  • sounds killer!!

A bit more sustain on the first tone whould be nice :)

  • At first i didn't like the tone, too trebly for my ears and the pick attack was quite audiable. But after the first minute it just felt into place.

    Great playing Rick!

Try removing some treble, and adding the same amount of mids (low mids if possible)

    Cheers!

    Stelios.

  • thanks for checking the vid out and commenting guys!

  • Sounds great. A bit "thin"-sounding in the start there imo, but except for that, killer.

  • Thanks dude, I did think it was a bit thin too. Cheers!

  • awesome tone, articulation and dynamics!

  • nice your good

  • niceeee, I hear suhr's makin a new 7 string :o

  • I just feel that it needs to be a little bit more beefy. Slightly more gain. Thats what I think! No need to follow my opinion though

  • agreed man, a thicker sound is what i need. Thanks man!

  • wow!!!

What is this guitar? Is this fender? what model? thanks.

  • suhr guitars, not sure the model

  • thanks for the answer, man!

  • its a suhr modern

  • thank you for help!

I found it. It's actually 'suhr modern root beer drip'.

  • yes the root beer drip is the particular finish of this guitar

  • The tones are great!

Harmonically rich, very singy/soulful, and easy to listen to.

    What are you using?

  • I donßt think I could play metal with a Suhr!

  • Suhr's are very versatile, I'm yet to find a style that can't be played on one ;)

  • Brutal death metal?

  • great job Rick!

  • Damn Rick, that was marvellous. That tone was just stunning, how the hell do you get that tone? =) - and this was played with great feeling.

    5* from Germany

  • very nice tones. are you using guitar rig?

  • Superb playing man!!

I love this song so much... the tone was totally amazing too

  • Man, as soon as I saw your vid avatar in my subs window, I was like, ahh! Rick Graham is playing my fav Satch song! . . . and it was gnarly as hell! Awesome playing, as always.

  • OMG i have this song on 1 of my cd surfing with the alien lol

  • the second tone was godly wut equipment do u use?

  • great job man!

  • very nice feeling man !

  • WOW! I really liked that last tone, what did you use there?

  • Whoa Rick... looks weird seeing you resting the guitar on your right leg, rather than in between them

Awesome playing as usual!! ...We are not worthy!

  • oh yeah... i didn't notice the right leg thing... Great video Rick!!! awesome tone

  • yeaahh.. cool !!

  • thanks for playing my favorite satch song ever, when i had to play it live my bassist fucked up the whole bass timing , but the one thing i would urge you to do it add a bit more of that satch emotion, thats what made this song so special

  • nice :D
