It's a sad commentary on our society that dentist are so expensive as to be out of reach of most Americans, even with insurance it's hugely expensive.

Sure, they will give you an application for a credit card type thing to put the bill on, but it's 28% interest.

I would not be paying out big time for dental work if I could have afforded to go when I should have.

It IS sad. Billions of dollars for Iraqi streets, nothing for American teeth.

I emailed the White House about the issue of dental care. You know what I got back? An email telling me how they appreciate my interest in health care and the President is working on it. It was a big "What the Hell?" moment for me. It did not address my issue at all.

We now know that dental care is important for our health, but when the price is out of our reach, what are we to do?

Well I waited around for sponsorship. Art patrons. But their catch was that I had to have the teeth removed myself before they would pop for the $775 dentures.

I finally lucked out there, too. 23 broken teeth removed for $20 total.

I hope you keep looking for a way to get your dental care. It's gotta be out there somewhere.
