That's so awesome what Hope said starting at 4:44 is. "I love you Gran and I know that You'll look out for us for the rest of "The Days of Our Lives" Alice Horton WAS Days Of Our Lives. This was an awesome tribute/goodbye to such a wonderful lady and important member of the show. Happy that so many returned to the show for her funeral, but would have been nice to see more; John and Marlena, Sean D and Belle, Roman, just to name a few. RIP Frances Reid/Alice Horton

@KirbbDogg That's a very good question. That makes no sense to me. Such a pivotal character dies and they neglect to bring back EVERYONE whose lives she touched and everyone who held her dear. It was a crock and a disappointment. I just read, however, that they are bringing back 8 old characters to Days this summer, including Drake and Deidra. Produces realized what stupid mistakes they made getting rid of everyone we cared about on the show.

This was one of the most tactful, and natural ways I have ever seen a show work into its dialogue and situation the very name of the show itself. A+

If only TPTB over at Guiding Light had put together this kind of memorial/scene/episode in 1985 for Charita Baur, who played "Bert Bauer" the matriarch of The GL from 1952-1985. She deserved better, and what GL did for her funeral was atrocious, at best.

They could have said "...Bert, you'll remain our Guiding Light for the rest of our lives"

Wow, even though they had lines to recite, I did not feel like I saw any "acting" there from anyone.

Their genuine sadness was evident, and so understandable. Very nicely handled by the show - the writers, cast, producer, director, etc.

This is an example to all shows (especially daytime serials that can run for decades+) on how to handle the real-life passing of a matriarch/patriarch. In a small way, they were saying goodbye to Macdonald Carey again too.

im sad to say that my uncle died on the same day as alice did ans the funeral was on the same day as hers, so i missed this. im so glad that its on here and glad that frances had a remarkable tribute as she deserved. rip frances ried (alice horton)

There were no recent onscreen scenes of Mike Horton with his mother Laura, his father Bill (I can't remember if there was or not), and his half-brother Lucas. That was too bad!

The icing on the cake would have been to see Marlena and John, as well as Calliope and Eugene since they all worked with Alice during criminal investigations.

An awesome goodbye to such a special lady!!!! It looked as though Kristen Alfonso had a very hard time getting through this episode. Saying goodbye to someone you worked with for as long as these people have is like saying goodbye to a member of your family my heart goes out to them as well as her family!!!
