I am opening a new online chat game, if interested let me know and I'll send you the link once I get the site up. Opening October for all interested, a perpetual online java based chat game much like White Wolf has.
Free download because no one's playing it. Look, Ive played this game, its ok, but does not hold a candle to Mage the Awakening. But, to each her own.
If it were up to me, which of course it isn't, I'd have the magic system from M:tA and the setting of M:tAw put together. That to me would be just epic
I likey the free RPG! I think i'm going to buy some of the supplements....now I have to see if it fits well with All Flesh...wizards and zombies...yum!
It works just fine. In fact, WitchCraft concentrates a lot things found in the various AFMBE books into one place, notably the psychic abilities, magic, and divine inspiration.
Another great review, thanks! Haven't read the supplements and being interested in Witchcraft only quite recently I can't agree nor disagree with the supplements schedule being slow. But I do like the comparison to old WoD and agree with it completely. In fact I think that the reason WW reset their setting was exactly what made WoD an unmaintainable mess - hand-binding metaplot no sane person could fully comprehend.
Witchcraft was one of my favorites when it came out for ideas... but lack of support and the geological pace of supplements made it a tough sell to players (especially those with a mundane D&D attitude to gaming).
Thanks for doing the review, maybe we can revive some interest in it.
Grade A review, Mr. Wiegel. I'm a lover of the WoD, new and old. But I was wondering if you could review a game my friend is about to run. It's a little game by the name of "The End".
I am a former owner of Witchcraft and it's sourcebooks. Witchcraft is Eden's 1st game, and it shows. There is a lot of imbalance in it's version of Unisystem.
I dropped this game not because of WoD, but because of it's little sister Buffy (and to a lesser degree, Angel) which I consider to be a more complete and better game with virtually identical intent.
Also, while the core is free the Mystery Codex is virtually impossible to find, even harder than the Magic Box supplement for Buffy.
'course, Eden Studios is just about dead. Seems like they've been promising City of Heroes for quite a while and there have been some recent complaints about delivery of orders. If you're interested in any of their books, I'd be getting them now.
Nice neat review there, never played Witchcraft but ive ran couple games of Armagedon (whicn im happy your doing right off the back of This one since it realy is the sequil)
You think maybe you coud continue on with the Scion book smaybe at some point, since there all out now! :D
I might have asked this before, but have you ever thought on giving an overview of the systems you review, kind of like what you did with the Fate Engine, thus sort of teaching us how to play them?
Still my absolutely favourite RPG!

What the f..k is UNA system???
Haven't heard about it and doesn't even know if I spelled it correct....

unisystem.
Check Wikipedia, or google it.

You didn't. Unisystem. It's a 'universal' game system first developed for this very game.

Now all I need are some players. : (

I definitely prefer Witchcraft to Mage. But then I prefer playing Mortals only games in the new WoD. Strokes for folks and all that.

Which, in turn, cannot hold a candle to Mage: the Ascension. But as you said, to each their own.

Really?!? You think so? I've played M:tA and I think that M:tAw is a completely different and much more superior creature.

There ARE bad games. Remember Aftermath or Bushido? I could name five more off the top of my head.

You must be a FGU fan...
I actually had a lot of fun with Bushido back in the day...
