The best thing about religion is that you can question it, saying that we all free but stubbern to admit that we are wrong. That to me is more of a trap then any other theory.
@trainofaaron maybe you are trapped in language depending on meaning of the word "theory", what if it is not about your limited perception of any "theory" and the need of such a concept called "theory". You can call yourself an "expert" of swimming, because you have the biggest collection of books & documentaries dealing with (scientific) research on swimming including all interviews of Olympic & World Champions of Swimmers.
@EX0MATRIXTV Im defining the word theory as it is a system of ideas intended to explain something, and that is what religion is, someones perception on the mystery of life. Not to say im totally against religion and that I have all the answers because i spent most of my life as a catholic, but what I came up with is that religion is a big hoax trying to tell everyone how to live there life not to commit sins, when it's already natural in human and animal to do the right thing. Great point though
@trainofaaron winning what? I do not have any intent of competition, I just Am (or Be) following my heart where the mind have to figure out the "why" and the "how" and to what end.
Sometimes a "mission" whatever we temporary claim to have, could lead to something else that was not part of the plan or "greater good" or "goal" but still very profound or necessary to encounter to noticing it ... right in front of our faces or eyes for those who can see or sense beyond the program.
@EX0MATRIXTV I can see you’re a person who needs the answers and has to understand all the possibilities before contemplating on what is the truth. Even though i respect your decision and quest and agree that we are being controlled in a lot of way but I’m a person who finds the answers here and now on earth we simply need to understand that life doesn't have to be a mystery and that we can find the answers in everyday life.
Curious the negative comments are usually from channels that eventually cease to exist or have little substance where the most relevant comments come from channels that not only exist but flourish.
In some of his things, he (Watts) seems far more positive and in others (this one) he seems a little more on the negative side - anyone else noticed this? Just my feelings on it.
This is of course advaita stuff. Having just read a lot of Nisargadatta, its fun to see most of the great thinkers saying the same thing. The only difference is in the realization ... I believe Nisarg lived the concept, as much as I hate to use the word "realized". Liberated may be slightly better.
I'm pretty well versed in postmodern philosophy, and I've heard enough from him to know I disagree with him. I wouldn't consider him a philosopher on the same level as Wittgenstein, Hegel, Heidegger, or anyone who has made ground breaking contributions.
Consciousness is what it is all about. It is the connection between Quantum Physics and spirituality. Watch some video about the Princeton Global Consciousness project. It actually helps to give the concept of consciousness a little more substance. Max Planck, Bohr, Einstein and others all made statement about consciousness is primary.
@StationaryTransient Watts' brilliance doesn't come from his contributions to philosophy, but from his ability to explain eastern philosophy to western taught thinkers. His role is more to get people interested and engaged with these concepts and for them to search further into philosophers such as wittgenstein and heidegger
everything in the universe is energy. God is simply positive energy or love! evil, Satan, killing another human being, hate etc = negative energy, wat elite believe. Jesus, even if just a story, lived love - put forth positive energy - which is why he was God in the flesh! The story should b remembered 4 all of us 2 put forth positive energy the way Jesus taught us. Constantine & the roman empire -the elite -all infiltrated / created religions, the bible & Quran. PAGAN.
1977. Having left the faith of my Fathers behind I one day tuned in New Dimentions Radio where I think this lecture was being played. Besides oriental utterances on TV's "Kung Fu" Watt's thoughts were my first exposure to beyond mainstream American Judeo-Christian tradition. His speaking gave me much to follow up on in readings and study, and also made me very happy; I had found articulations on the misty perceptions looking for expression in my young, recently peek a boo opened mind.

But what is the point if you never swam yourself?

@trainofaaron religion & atheism have a lot in common (one is ... the not really communicate and hugging their own self-imposed limitations & dramas
We have to exceed the scripted programmed behavior if we want to find any real transformational solutions & going beyond dualistic thinking!

@EX0MATRIXTV Aha thats a great observation, but who said anything about being atheist?

For a man who adopted the "Eastern" distrust of words as a means of understanding truth, he has many insightful things to say.
Botmasher 1 year ago 2
@Botmasher He doesn't distrust words...he recognizes them for what they are... and thereby is able to convey meaning much more meaningfully.

Alan Watts is like a worse Eckhart Tolle.
I'm tired of StumbleUpon giving me these shitty videos.

Watch them again then. Alan Watts is about philosophy, which takes many years of study to even start to understand.
