  • :) so two characters are discussing the "alien invaders" nazi and suggesting that the aliens seed their world and the aliens dont look like us we look like the aliens cause they made us in their image :)

  • Sounds good, not i big fan of Pulp games do. But I like the Idé of thats the earth is Hallow and full of exotic plases and dinosurse. What System whod you recomend if you wants to play hollow earth expedition, but in a more modern, Urban Fantasy game?

  • @Ocannae Huh- where do I start. Honestly, if you want rules light, look at Angel + Ghosts of Albion from Unisystem. theres nothing stopping you from updating HEX to the modern era- just change the timeframe a little.

  • I bought this book when it first came out and generally enjoyed it, my main complaint being the artwork in the bestiary. It was as if the publisher ran out of money and handed the job over to a fifth grader. Still, it is a good kitchen sink supplement with a lot of ideas.

  • Fire hazard at the background-->right. Man take care of that. You have loads of books there, it will light up really fast and I'll hate to see you go like that. A man has to die from a) having too many burritos b) asphyxiated by tight pants c) choke to death on a bbq. Fire is not on the list. So get it fixed! :)

  • @hulksjedi Thanks for the tip. I'm glad you didn't see the other three shelves....

  • Please review to "Trail" of cthulhu game, not to be confused with "Call" of cuthulhu.

  • I would humbly request a review of the Gumshoe system by Robin D. Laws and the Trail of Cthulhu games that they have. :)

  • Kurt that shirt sweater combo needs a rethink.

  • Not sure if Kurt takes requests, but I would like a video on how to run a proper CoC campaign. I am new to that kind of game and would appreciate some advice and ideas. I know that it is infamous for killing off player characters, but I kind of dislike the idea, nor would my players appreciate it if they are doomed from the start. Maybe there is a good compromise without loosing the CoC feeling?

  • @peri2502 You should check out Kurt's review of Realms of Cthulhu by Reality Blurs (Game Geeks #137).

The book gives you the mechanics to make the PCs tougher or weaker to your taste, but bear in mind that this is for Savage Worlds and not for the classic CoC BRP system.

  • @peri2502 He doesn't. If I recall correctly all the stuff he gets sent for review is promotional/free. It really depends on the CoC campaign. It doesn't matter how carefully you plan one bad san check can throw everything off. Masks of Nyarlothep (sp?) for example can easily wipe out even experienced investigators.

The best way for players to survive is to be careful. As the GM you can always fudge things a bit but in CoC players shouldn't get to complacent.

  • @peri2502 If you cant kill your players, you shouldnt be playing CoC. Period.

  • @phaedruslive My original question was if there is a mystery-haunted house style RPG. Looks like CoC is the only module that really goes there.

Besides, I thought playing RPG's is about having fun, not playing it how you are supposed to do it, no matter what you and your friends like.

  • @peri2502 Dont use the mythos then. Mortals could never deal any real damage to any of the elder beings without influence from another elder being. Its not ghost busters, its cosmic horror. Your characters dont have to die, but they do eventually have to lose their minds and become unplayable.

  • With Halloween upon us (or pretty much past us) it would be nice if Kurt could review something that would fit into the theme...or maybe make a video about games that would be nice to be run on a Halloween game night. I know that Kurt only reviews what he owns, but I am sure he has something matching on his shelfes. Alternatively, it would be cool if Kurt would talk about some of his game experiences in more detail. Such things are sometimes helpful in coming up with ideas for new adventures.

  • Regarding Hollow Earth, I read the core rulebook and was disturbed by the write up regarding the British Mandate of Palestine. It felt as if this was written by a Palestinian propagandist rather than a game designer, as it completely embraced the Palestinian "narrative", distorted some historical facts and basically blamed the Jewish side for everything. Please don't get real world politics into my game books!

  • do you have any plans to review arcanis

  • Great reveiw as allways! Ive used this book to flesh out some of the game me and my freinds are playing and i can say it was well worth the money!!

  • Beneath the crust lies a grander world!

  • Glad to see another video up :)
