  • the Phill Mitchell Appreciation Society!

  • I like the one with the dancing bears better

  • OK! :D

  • Thanks to Charlie Brooker for pointing out this gem... Gotta love those rough-and-tumble skinheads! Cheeky sods!

  • I'm 37, but I have never seen this advert before. If it was from '81-'84 that would explain it. as I lived in Dubai during that time.

  • The one in the specs reminds me of Frankie Boyle.

  • brooker

  • Thumbs up if you're eating Weetabix right now!

  • love the song lol

  • Just realized alot of the soundtracks on these 80's adverts are the part of the reason why I became a bass-player,well them and Herbie Flowers

  • Wheat boi, gimme ya brek brek

  • @MrFegelein oh god i lol'd hard

  • "okay"....Yeah...just what i was thinking

  • Vitamins

  • That cereal waaaaas so bad

  • *okay*

  • Weetabix are for pussies :)

  • lol skin head...

  • The NF and the BNP seriously need to fuck off and STFU, no one cares. This advert however, rocked.

  • i like minis better now!!

  • Attention 5-year-old little girls!

Don't put a Skinhead and a Nazi under the same category!

    They're BOTH DIFFERENT THINGS!

Skinheads are punks, like to listen to heavy rock, they don't like the police, they don't follow laws ect.

Nazi are racist shit heads that think they're better because they're white.

  • @896367453 Close enough, but you left out the Jamaican ska. Skinheads aren't what they are without Jamaican Rude Boy and 60s Mod influences. Keep the faith.

  • There's some bovver going on in the box between 0:27 and 0:29!

  • THEIR ALL CAPTAIN PRICE!

  • AHAHAHAH

  • looks like someones had their weetabix

  • sounds like they say wiinerbits O.O

  • As a teenager, I used to love these adverts and collected the stickers from boxes of Weetabix and I used to stick them onto my lever arch file at School. In retrospect, these adverts seem a little bit disturbing and politically in-correct, but I don't think people should over-analyse or take them too seriously, it is after all, only a breakfast cereal commercial.

  • racist

  • @imyoursuperior2 How the fuck is it racist?

  • some adverts're meant to be humorous!!

  • so they think they're hard? Just stomp on them with a pair of Doc martens!

  • weetabiiiix!!

  • ok?

    hehehe

  • What happened when the Nazi's successfully annexed Britain.

  • There's a not a single fascist element in this commercial, so your ignorance of what real skinheads are and their ties to reggae music shine through.

Why don't you look up "Skinhead Reggae" here on youtube and educate yourself, and maybe you'll realize how big of a hypocrite you are for labeling all skinheads as racist nazis.

  • Look up the definition of hypocrite before you toss it around.

  • I always use my words properly, I'm an English major and I go to school. So I don't see your point. All I did was tell you that Skinhead has nothing to do with Nazi, and what you have done was look at cartoon characters and made a snap judgment that they were Nazis.

In turn, you did the very thing that you assume skinheads do, and that's to label and stereotype people with limited knowledge of what you are experiencing.

So yes, you are a hypocrite.

    Now shut up.

  • I am a drop out and I still knew this.

Hypocrite - 1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion

2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings

You used the wrong word. I win the fucking internets.

  • If winning an argument on youtube is the highlight of your day, then I can't help but to feel sorry for you.

  • Damn weetabix threatened me.

    so I ate his family.

  • @IrishLainey HAHA! You've got a great sense of humor- like me hehe :)

  • Am i getting threatened by cereal?

  • Far superior to "NotMadeWithWheatMadeWithOatABix".

  • I was just threatened by a Weetabix.

  • why was they made to look like skinheads - not a good idea

  • LMAO!

  • @bunnygirl9043 Whats wrong with that, lol? :) hehe

  • Okay!

  • heehee, greenskins

  • Oh my god I feel high after watching that. That isn't right.

  • okay!

  • Weetabix are SOOO nasty!

  • better do what they say, they sound serious

  • The hysterical reactions that these ads provoke always amuses me. I have read - and it's so bloody obvious - that the skinhead characters are based on the ska group Madness (Listen to the background music, dummies!), and can be affiliated with the UK multi-racial 'Rude Boy' movement that followed 2-Tone ska music. The original skinheads, while often associated with brawling, were both black and white, and listened to Jamaican reggae music.

  • Weetabix, A cereal for the happy slapping generation

  • ...am I being threatened by food?

  • I'm gonna eat me a bowl and watch This is England to some Desmond Dekkar!

    Oi!

  • I used to have the T-shirt with a weetabix skin hanging from a pocket

  • Hahaha, they look like Oi! Skins. :D

  • "OKAY!" xD

  • what are weetabix?

  • Breakfast cereal made from err.... Wheat.

Horrible with cold milk, but ok if you use hot milk and a bit of sugar to taste.

  • Anybody remember the stickers? They were yellow and a few friends had them stuck to the fridges at the time.

  • yep.and there was a knititng pattern for bixie!my Nana knitted me an incredible Bixie jumper and attached ribbons.hahaha.

  • Weetabix. Not for nonces.

  • You wouldn't want to be the Mars bar in that kitchen's cupboard.

  • I love how people can put their prejudices on a cartoon breakfast. Just because they are skinheads. Not one racial thing was said in this. Well... unless you find putting down toast racist lol

  • Skinheads weren't/aren't all racists & football hooligans, fellas - around this time, skinheads were more Madness fans, The Specials, that lot - ska & reggae were as big an influence as anything, note the backing music!

For pity's sake... racist Weetabix? Do some research.

  • When Phil and Grant Mitchell joined Eastenders they used to remind me of these ads lol

  • how can breakfast be racist? not unless your eating special kkk.

  • lol

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

best breakfast pun on a youtube comment ever.

  • ROFL!

  • Bloody Classic!

    OK!!!

  • one day the world will know that weetabix was right

  • awkay!

  • Lol i remember this on tv cool.

  • right u lot who think this is racist, ur a bunch of politically correct bastards. take it in context, its the 80's! for fucks sake, if ur a meat head and on steroids in this day in age tht makes u "hard" but in the 80's if u had a skin head and wore steel toed boots with jeans and braces u were "hard" christ get over urselves! And FYI, it looks like the bnp are gonna get in sonner or later cos every year they are winning more and more constituency seats so deal with it. jeeeez

  • the message is clear in this commercial.

eat weeabix,or the toast gets it.

  • haha! funny shyt

  • Goose stepping Nazi thugs, NF Henchmen, the scourge of middle class Britain. Or were they merely fans of reggae and Oi! at one with our overseas bretheren?

Whatever they were, who at Weetabix HQ thought this wasa good idea?

  • Unlike other people on this board, at least you know the full spectrum of skinhead.

I think this commercial was made well before the National Front started hijacking the skinhead image in order to push their warped sense of politics. I'm talking from a historian standpoint, so don't count me as authoritative.

Judging by their hats and scarves, they must be Stoke City supporters, that should offend Newcastle fans more than anything.

  • Read Skinhead by John King if you love the 70s Oi movement. Quality book

  • Never been a huge fan of Oi!, except for The Templars and The Business. I spend most of my time listening to Jamaican sounds and Northern Soul. I always thought that punk and Oi! ruined the skinhead movement, but I still love the music,

In L.A. there's a big skinhead scene but it's traditional. The Rockstedy Lounge on Monday was packed with skins and I always have a great time there.

  • Why bother it obiviously had no effect on current society, it goes to show people dont want racism.

  • @ArthurAllblack thats the best comment on youtube!

  • @ArthurAllblack why would stoke fans offend newcastle supporters??? do you mean sunderland??

  • @kattakethat Pardon my ignorance, I got my info mixed up.

  • @ArthurAllblack Everyone from here in Stoke actually does sound and act like that.

    TRUTH!

  • Ah yes, Weetabix's Neo Nazi Period :-)

I bet Weetabix would love to pretend that *these* adverts never existed.

"If you know what's good for you" indeed!

  • Being a skinhead doesn't make you a nazi.

  • @SaladSpork

    Well said!!!

  • @SaladSpork

    Well said!!!

  • @SaladSpork

exactly, there's a difference between a bonehead and a skinhead

  • @SaladSpork REAL SKINHEADS AREN'T RACIST!

  • Comment removed

  • @SaladSpork Of course you do, I just put that up for others to read.

  • @SaladSpork

think you have stoke and sunderland mixed up there mate.

  • @ScottxSkins :S ?

  • @SaladSpork

you said that 'they must be stoke city supporters, that should offend Newcastel fans more than anything. Sunderland have a similar strip to Stoke and we dislike Sunderland fans, not Stoke fans. All I Mean with that.

  • @ScottxSkins think you've @ 'd wrong person! Your after ArthurAllblack :p

  • @ScottxSkins Ha! I was showing this off to a friend and saw your comment! Good one, I dig it! Arsenal supported use the same style too, saw them whoop Barca's ass just last week!

  • @SaladSpork but a weetabix

  • lol this gves us brits a bad name- oh well its nowhere near as strange as that creepy mcdonalds ad

  • You mean that creepy McDonalds ads from the 50's with Dick Van Dyke as a psycho looking clown?

  • I've never seen someone threaten me into eating a particular brand for breakfast before!

  • Actually it was when Desmond Dekker first came over here in the 60s that started the skinhead movement, he cut his hair very short and also insisted his trousers had the bottom of the legs cut short so you could see the Doc Marten boots.

  • I love Weetabix.

  • That is terrible, it is bullying people into eating weetabix

weetabix eater for 13 years, EVERYDAY!

  • wtf are those? Vissticks made for milk?!

  • i love weetabix

  • haha love dr martens! :D

  • The 80's were a scarry time for adverts :s

  • AWESOME.

  • i miss the 80s

  • i rember getting a wheetabix atlas with it once :S it had all the lil peeps in i think i still have it!

  • loved this ad was great to see it again

  • i used to be in the weetabix club when i was a kid in the 80's. i got loads of stuff.:) its so funny watchin dis.

  • "okay!"

  • love weetabix, and this is so funny :)

  • they relate to a time when skin head was a fashion statment reather than a stereotypical racist. the uneducated masses assume that to have cropped hair means your politcal and race ideals are the same as a nazi. think about it, woukd a cereal company openly back a truley racist movement? are all peolple with skin heads racist?? if you believe that your buying into the same generalisations thats all asians smell and that all muslims are suicide bombers. grow up and use your brains

  • But the connection between skinheads and racism dates back to the 60's and 70's, which pre-dates this advert. Whoever made this advert should have been more careful.

  • Funnily enough the skinhead fashion originated in Jamaica, singer Desmond Dekker pioneered skinhead fashion and music, the neo nazis you see are nothing to do with the original skinheads who loved reggae and ska music.

  • Agreed. Actually, the film "This is England" portrays some of this tension that originally was not in the Skinhead movement - but then sadly was coopted by the NF lot back in the 70s.

  • The real test would be seeing how they react when adding chocolate milk.

  • lol nice one

  • And another dumbass who assumes all skinheads are racist.

Riddle me this: In assuming that all skinheads are racist, aren't you, in turn, being prejudiced against a certain group of people you have absolutely no knowledge of, but is happy to make snap judgments based on what you heard?

    Think about it. Hypocrite.

  • Crikey this brings back memories of being in the Weetabix Club. I distinctly remembergetting a comic, pencil case and stickers. Brain, Brian, Bixie, Dixie and Dunk!

  • A cartoon gang of skinheads! Wow, it really was a different era. Can you imagine the 2007 equivalent? A cartoon gang of hoodies threatening to Happy Slap you if you don't eat your cornflakes! It just wouldn't be allowed on the air!

  • Yeah, so you better eat breakfast or these guys will fuck you up.

  • YEAH!

  • hahaa ace!

  • How come they don't make Weetabix adverts like this anymore? The current ones they have now are shit!

  • I wish I had been a parent in the 1980s so I could have had an excuse to complain about this!

  • Me & my mates would quite often bust the weetabix rap at school. There was a magazine advert featuring a weetabix skin and the brand written in graffiti by a guy called Pride from Chrome Angelz. Well cool.

  • i remember that..i had it as a poster on my wall.i got it sent cos i was a member of the weetabix fan club..lol

  • weetabix gang will fuck you up.

  • lol lovr thr weetabix skins

  • Wow i remember this one. Dates from around 1987 i think

  • Much earlier than that. These wheat thugs date back to the early 80's probably 1981.

  • I have a photo of me on my 21st birthday wearing the weetabix skin T-shirt. I'd had it for years by that time so must have been as you say around 81

  • aaargh so cute!!!

  • ...until they kick your head in.

  • Loving it!

  • Sounds like an English DEVO...

  • lol I love the accent

  • Not sure, but I think the main voice is Chris Ellison (D.I. Burnside from The Bill)
