I can't properly describe the feeling I get when I hear this song. It's beautiful, but tragically so. I feel like smiling, but I want to cry; I feel so filled, and complete, but so incredibly empty and helpless at the same time. The moment I hear his voice at the beginning, I get chills. The 'get ups' near the end are so so perfect and tender and touching. I just, love, this song. Christian or not, it touches my soul in a way that few other songs have. It's beautiful. You're beautiful. <3

this song isn't about religion, its about someone loosing their way, and a friend or lover helping them find there way again. If the song was about religion, there would be at least one mention of God, but there isn't. I'm sorry.

The song is about a terrible car crash. '5 days after black and red collide' tells us this, and he explains the sight in vivid detail. i.e. "She's crawling through the ash, she's pitiful" The boy sings about how he woke up and was fine but the girl he loves is slipping away. It's told through a standpoint of thought. He symbolizes the innocence of both of them through 'we may be two kids without our jackets' then tells us she most likely will die. The beautiful outro is her passing on. I cried.

I think this song is about a boy and his lover narrowly surviving a nuclear explosion. "She's lost her sense of light, she has to hold my hand" means she's gone blind from the blast. "She's crawling through the ash, she's pitiful" she's too weak to stand, and she's crawling through the ashes from the explosion and fire. "Behind that weathered door..." they survived by hiding behind a door but it's been 5 days since the blast and it's their first time going outside. Beautiful song..
