this heatsink is crap, i just got it yesterday and applied arctic silver 5 underneath, the mounting went perfect and i know my installation was flawless...nonetheless i tested with prime95 and within 5 mins the load temp was at 78C at stock 3.1ghz ...im returning it for a coolermaster V8, that things beastly
@iLLy2pacRemixes I've been running one on an AMD X3 720 BE overclocked to 3.4ghz (stock 2.8ghz) with the 4th core unlocked, and it rarely gets above 60C. Sounds like you just got a bad fan.
@danonolan really? man i remember the fan's speed controller worked fine and i had it on full, and it seemed to be working fine, you culd feel alot of air blowing out...not too sure what the problem was, but now im using the v6gt and its working great
i jusst baught this and installed, now my pc keeps missbooting and then going into windows repair...? any1 have any ideas, when i got into windows my avast pro wasnt working, so i uninstalled, cleaned reg and rebooted and reinstalled, still keeps doing the windows repair thing tho... i have no clue =/
@hawwit yes it does have AM2 and AM3 mounting hardware. It might take a few tries to get the latch to go down the first time, after that it latches easily though
@jakethefist lol i think its because humans tend to see blue as a 'colder' colour, and red is perceived to be a 'hotter' colour..... companies try to make their products look as cooling as possible, so i guess that's why most are blue led
lol funny on how some of you judge a fan by the way it looks. i own two of these and yes they are awesome. my first pc cpu cools at 27 c idle, my otherone at 30c. so whats the problem here??????
What a cheesey video. That fan is a frosted piece of shit. It is easy to bend the fins and the AMD mount allows it to slide a lot. It has no "automatic" setting. As far as cooling goes it's hardly a step up from the stock. I can't beleive they are asking $80 for it on their site.
I like it! I just hate that it uses push pins. I prefer screw type heatsinks. Anyway if it can keep my Q6600 cooler then 50c under load I can deal with the pins.
you would think they have made enough money to make better video presentations. or work harder than "embrace the future" for their tagline (or however its called).
The SpinQ dosen´t worth the money. It looks nice, but it got a crapy cooling concept.
why? because the heatpipes are too much away from the spreads. better take a other cooler, like EKL Groß Clockner or Scythe Ninja, Orochi, Samurai, Katana2 and such on.
well at the moment i have a Asus P5Q PRO P45 mobo which i have overclocked my E8400 to bout 3.4 Ghz(cos i have stock fan....:(...) yeh so what do u think?
thats a really good mobo u got there u my man have great taste :D, i think u can still push a further OC with that stock fan, maybe with about 3.7ghz or 3.8. Lower your ram speed in the bios and keep increasing that FSB slowly. What ram do you have? IMHO You dont have to spend 60 bucks on a cooler like this one, get the artic freezer 7 pro wich can do a great job.
ah np, yep set the memory speeds to 800mhz that way you can overclock your fsb a heck more, that should add u about 400mhz of overclock possibly more.
good idea but many wouldn't have one or buy one plus reply to the other guy...canned air would take the dust right out! it really doesn't look tough to clean that to me.
Does this work on an AM3?

dazcr85 1 year ago
@dazcr85 dont sound like a cpu problem, but id try re-seating your cpu, as in, install the fan again, making sure its making contact with the plate.
check those temps, with this cooler should be around 35oc - 40oc in windows.

hey man does the Thermaltake SpinQ have purple or blue LED's? i would love to get this cooler. newegg shows it having purple, it seems.
mrherbert12345678 2 years ago
it has a blue LED
but be warned the air intake fights with almost all cases so you need to flip a few fans around and it kills air flow
but other than that its a pretty awesome heat sink
great for LAN parties :D

There are 2 things you look for in a cooler, coolness and keeping things cool.
This is a 5 on 5 in the coolness scale.
This is a 3 of 5 on the keeping things cool scale.
If you don't go crazy overclock, then this is fine. If you go crazy overclock, why not use water? normal OC on this is fine.
