Hey Bro', hello from the Bronx NY..i want to say i enjoy the lesson on rust removal, can't say the same about the smile...LOL' but you have taught me a valuable lesson and i will be taking rust off my parts as of this weekend..just wanted to know does it matter how many amps you use from the charger 10,20, 50,??? please let me know thanks JAY...peace'.
@hogych Yes, as long as you have a water container thats big enough, and a powerfull enough powersource.. someone dumped a car into a pool, and connected a welder as powersource - apparently it worked perfectly ^^
It is however a case of lots of metal being needed for the sacrificial part, and you still need to make sure you have a goodt electrical connection :)
Exellent demo! I am currently cleaning out a petrol tank for a Honda Super Four at the time of writing. Apparently the black residue can be removed by soaking the part in coke, the phosphoric acid removes it quickly. I don't know which brand yet. :-)
once the part has been cleaned from the process AThunderA, then you just wirebrush and clean it off, leave it to dry fully, Rat Biker said he puts on the radiator to dry fully, then he gives it a coat of red oxide primer to protect it the you can finish the part in what ever colour you want, hope that clears it up for you mate. Handy Video RatBiker by the way thanks.
Hey mate. I didn't get what you tend to do once that's done. did u say that u put the electrolised part in radium or waht was that? can you just expand a bit on that? Cheers ;)
Thanks for the video. If you use this method a lot, could you substitute a non-metallic anode (such as a carbon electrode from a discarded dry cell battery) for the sacrificial mild steel electrode ?
That rocks! What a great idea for the equally lazy do it yourselfers. Really enjoyed the video and YES the eye candy. Love the hair! Very creative! Will surely use this in some projects.
Well done, would be nice if you covered amperage of the charger. I started with 2 amps, very slow. Now I run 12.5 amps and I'm getting great results. Also, I am using borax (boric acid) rather than wash soda (might be same thing). What is in wash soda anyway?
Hey! Thank you for a very informative video. Just embarking on a restoration of a Moto Guzzi 850 T3 California and the petrol tank has some rust inside.
thanks for your video i just started electrolysis here in the states im de-rusting my battery tray on my jeep cj7 and its working good im using baking soda
i do admit i had the wires backwards on my first try lol lucky it was a big bumper and i caught it before there was any damage. i found an old power suply from a computer and the output on it is 25 amps. im sure that will speed up the prosses.
thanx bro it works perfect saves a lot off time o 1 thing ifyou take the thing out
prime the metal with grounding primer and than paint it ive alsow have quastion i saw you make the skud bike how dit you make the back of that bike ??
Well done that man! After watching other videos about this subject it's nice to have a guy like me explain it! "Get it wrong and you're a tit!" made me laugh. Will be using this to help restore my Datsun 260Z so THANK YOU!
Thanks for the video. Great idea. I'll give it a try. Would "Borax" be the same thing. Not sure I've seen that soap crystals in the US. Thanks - Mike (Ohio, USA)
many thanks mate!

important to bake at about 60C for 2 hours or so to get rid of hydrogen, or part may become brittle.

Just one small thing, wash it in water before drying off, or even a 'weak' acid - squeeze of lemon in a bowl of water, then dry and paint.
