  • Good couple of videos mate, I'm gonna give this a go!!! You ought to do some more videos, I like the presentation!!!

  • Great info, and one hell of a presentation.

    Thank you !!!!

  • Hey Bro', hello from the Bronx NY..i want to say i enjoy the lesson on rust removal, can't say the same about the smile...LOL' but you have taught me a valuable lesson and i will be taking rust off my parts as of this weekend..just wanted to know does it matter how many amps you use from the charger 10,20, 50,??? please let me know thanks JAY...peace'.

  • 16 hours? Great video. Keep it up

  • Dude, cool video. You'd be good on television getting paid to do stuff like this.

  • thanks all the way from Cancun

  • i mean just the body shell of course ;-)

  • is it possible to do a whole car this way ?

  • @hogych Yes, as long as you have a water container thats big enough, and a powerfull enough powersource.. someone dumped a car into a pool, and connected a welder as powersource - apparently it worked perfectly ^^

It is however a case of lots of metal being needed for the sacrificial part, and you still need to make sure you have a goodt electrical connection :)

  • Exellent demo! I am currently cleaning out a petrol tank for a Honda Super Four at the time of writing. Apparently the black residue can be removed by soaking the part in coke, the phosphoric acid removes it quickly. I don't know which brand yet. :-)

  • Interesting, Entertaining and usefull...

    Great stuff, thanks : )

  • great stuff m8, more how to if you would

  • Great vid very informative,i use electrolysis for cleaning old coins,

    works wonders.

keep up the good work :)

  • once the part has been cleaned from the process AThunderA, then you just wirebrush and clean it off, leave it to dry fully, Rat Biker said he puts on the radiator to dry fully, then he gives it a coat of red oxide primer to protect it the you can finish the part in what ever colour you want, hope that clears it up for you mate. Handy Video RatBiker by the way thanks.

  • Hey mate. I didn't get what you tend to do once that's done. did u say that u put the electrolised part in radium or waht was that? can you just expand a bit on that? Cheers ;)

  • Hi RatBiker,

Thanks for the video. If you use this method a lot, could you substitute a non-metallic anode (such as a carbon electrode from a discarded dry cell battery) for the sacrificial mild steel electrode ?

    Steve

  • thanks so much for the how to

  • nice vid bro!... pretty educational and usefull!..

  • important to bake at about 60C for 2 hours or so to get rid of hydrogen, or part may become brittle.

  • Well done, would be nice if you covered amperage of the charger. I started with 2 amps, very slow. Now I run 12.5 amps and I'm getting great results. Also, I am using borax (boric acid) rather than wash soda (might be same thing). What is in wash soda anyway?

  • @michaelsschroeter late reply, but it's sodium carbonate or Na2CO3
